Financial Burden Associated With Hospitalisation Among Families of Childhood Brain Tumours in Australia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Families of children with cancer experience significant financial strain, even with universal healthcare. Indirect costs, such as productivity losses and non‐medical expenses, are rarely included in economic evaluations, and little is known about how effectively financial aid programmes alleviate this burden. Childhood brain tumours

A proof of concept on real-time air quality monitoring system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
According to the Department of Environment Malaysia, Air Pollutant Index (API) is an indicator for the air quality status at any particular area. API is calculated based on average concentration of air pollutants such as Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen ...

Realtime Profiling of Fine-Grained Air Quality Index Distribution using UAV Sensing

open access: yes, 2017
Given significant air pollution problems, air quality index (AQI) monitoring has recently received increasing attention. In this paper, we design a mobile AQI monitoring system boarded on unmanned-aerial-vehicles (UAVs), called ARMS, to efficiently build

Monitoring of ambient air quality in relation to traffic density in Bareilly City (U.P.), India [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
An ambient air quality study was undertaken in Bareilly city, U.P., India during the year 2010 and 2011. The seasonal air quality data was obtained from ten monitoring sites across the city considering sampling site of Cantt as control site. The maximum (

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Air Quality Index Prediction Using DNN-Markov Modeling

open access: yesApplied Artificial Intelligence
Air quality measurements contribute to diverse socio-economic sectors, including the environment and healthcare. Many methods are commonly applied to present air-quality levels, reflecting differing national standards.

Comprehensive Evaluation of Environmental Air Quality Based on the Entropy Weights and Concentration Variation Trends of Pollutants

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2022
The comprehensive index method has difficulties in evaluating the influence of air pollutant concentration changes on ambient air quality. Thus, a comprehensive evaluation method based on pollutant entropy weights and trend-regulating factors is proposed.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Application of Low-Cost Sensors in Stationary and Mobile Nodes for Urban Air Quality Index Monitoring

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings, 2023
The air quality in modern cities and urban areas is strongly affected by chemical pollutants such as toxic gases, volatile organic compounds, and particulate matter.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
