Ettringite Deposits in Air Voids

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2004
Investigations of pavements suffering from freeze-thaw damage in the presence of deicing salts have found significant deposits of ettringite in the air voids. Concern has been expressed that the deposition of ettringite in air voids reduces their effectiveness in protecting the concrete.

Piezoelectricity in multi-air voids electrets

CEIDP '05. 2005 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena, 2005., 2005
Multi-air voids space-charge electrets have been developed using two fluorethylenepropylene (Teflon-FEP) films. In this work, a new technique developed to assembler these films allows the control of the thickness and shapes of multi-air voids distributed on their surface.

Air‐void characterisation of foam concrete

Cement and Concrete Research, 2007
Abstract The pore structure of cementitious material, predetermined by its porosity, permeability and pore size distribution, is a very important characteristic as it influence the properties of the material such as strength and durability. The pore parameter could therefore be a primary factor influencing the material properties of foam concrete and

Characterisation of air-void systems in concrete

Magazine of Concrete Research, 2016
The air-void system in both fresh and hardened states for different concrete mixes was measured and characterised using the methods presented in ASTM C231 and ASTM C457 respectively. The mix variables included two water/binder (w/b) ratios (0·33 and 0·45), one replacement level of Portland cement with slag cement (50%) and a range of air contents ...
