A Numerical and Experimental Approach for Modeling Porosity Due to Entrapped Air and Volatiles Off-Gassing During Manufacturing of Composite Structures [PDF]
High performance composite structures have strict requirements regarding acceptable levels of porosity. The impact can be significant on mechanical performance and mitigating the growth of voids can be a challenge given the complexity of the problem. The

Spatial development of transport structures in apple (Malus x domestica Borkh.) fruit [PDF]
The void network and vascular system are important pathways for the transport of gases, water and solutes in apple fruit (Malus x domestica Borkh). Here we used X-ray micro-tomography at various spatial resolutions to investigate the growth of these ...

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

New method forms bond line free of voids [PDF]
A new bonding method using vacuum, pressure and heat, which produces a bond line free of voids, is described. This method is very successful in bonding ablation shields to a magnesium structural component in simulated reentry tests involving great heat ...

We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...
