Investigation of influential factors on the tensile strength of cold recycled mixture with bitumen emulsion due to moisture conditioning

open access: yesJournal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (English ed. Online), 2017
The present study attempts to investigate the effect of moisture conditioning on the indirect tensile strength (ITS) of cold recycled mixture with bitumen emulsion. Firstly, samples were prepared using a Superpave gyratory compactor.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Simulation of the Cooling Effect of Porous Asphalt Pavement with Different Air Voids

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Porous asphalt pavement shows lower internal temperature than does dense-graded asphalt pavement under high temperature conditions in summer. To study the cooling effect of porous asphalt pavement, the thermophysical properties of a dense-graded asphalt ...

Characterization of Three-Dimensional Internal Structure Evolution in Asphalt Mixtures during Freeze–Thaw Cycles

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
This paper aims to characterize the three-dimensional (3D) internal structure evolution of asphalt mixtures under freeze–thaw cycles. Asphalt mixtures with three levels of design void content (3%, 5%, and 7%) were prepared in the laboratory. Subsequently,

Characterization of sulfur distribution in Ni-based superalloy and thermal barrier coatings after high temperature oxidation: a SIMS analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Sulfur segregation was characterized by secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) in uncoated single-crystal Ni-based AM1 superalloys with various S contents and on NiPtAl, NiAl and NiPt bondcoats of complete TBC systems.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Study on Void Structure Reconstruction of Asphalt Mixture by X-Ray Computed Tomography and Otsu’s Method

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
The purpose of this paper is to obtain the pore distribution of asphalt mixture accurately by nondestructive technology. Specimens prepared with four gradations of asphalt mixtures were scanned using X-ray computed tomography (CT) which was used to ...
