Psychological Medicine, 1973SynopsisAn earlier investigation which showed that admission rates to a psychiatric hospital were higher from the higher noise zones close to Heathrow Airport than from relatively quieter areas was repeated. The present paper could not confirm those results, although a trend in agreement with the original findings was found.

Aircraft noise and birth weight
International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health, 1981Data from six infant welfare centres in the vicinity of Amsterdam airport were analysed. Birth weights of 902 infants were related to aircraft noise levels to which the mother was exposed in pregnancy. The analysis was restricted to deliveries in hospital, single births and mothers aged 20–34 years.
