Sinusoidal-gust generation with a pitching and plunging airfoil

open access: yes, 2019
The generation of uniform, periodic gust disturbances in an experimental context is demonstrated using a single oscillating airfoil. A pitching and heaving symmetric airfoil is suggested as a simpler alternative to existing gust-generation methods.

Unsteady Thin Airfoil Theory of a Biomorphing Airfoil [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Society for Aeronautical & Space Sciences, 2006
Birds and insect in nature morph their mean camberline shapes to obtain both lift and thrust simultaneously. Previous unsteady thin airfoil theories were derived mainly for a rigid flapping airfoil. An extended unsteady thin airfoil theory for a deformable airfoil is required to analyze the unsteady two-dimensional aerodynamic characteristics of a ...

Influence of Gurney Flap and Leading-Edge/Trailing-Edge Flaps on the Stall Characteristics and Aeroacoustic Performance of Airfoils

open access: yesFluids
In aerospace, flow control techniques have improved the separation flow characteristics around airfoils by various means. In this paper, the delayed detached eddy simulation (DDES) technique is used to simulate the detailed flow field around the NACA0021
