Comparative Study of Dynamic Stall between an Aircraft Airfoil and a Wind Turbine Airfoil in an Air–Particle Flow

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Dynamic stall in clean air flow has been well studied, but its exploration in air–particle (air–raindrop or air–sand) flow is still lacking. The aerodynamic performance loss of aircraft (NACA0012) and wind turbine (S809) airfoils and their differences ...

Blade Count and Rotational Speed Sensitivity of Vertical‐Axis Turbines Under Guided Vehicle‐Generated Transient Wakes

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Passing vehicles generate short‐duration wakes that can be redirected toward a vertical‐axis turbine. The interaction between wake structure, blade count, and rotational speed governs transient torque production. Low‐solidity configurations combined with tuned rotational speed enhance energy extraction under vehicle‐induced gusts.

Dynamic Stall Characteristics of the Bionic Airfoil with Different Waviness Ratios

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
A dynamic stall will cause dramatic changes in the aerodynamic performance of the blade, resulting in a sharp increase in the blade vibration load. The bionic leading-edge airfoil with different waviness ratios, inspired by the humpback whales flipper ...
