Fracture toughness behaviour in AISI 4130 steel of electron beam welding
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1990Abstract This investigation was undertaken to evaluate if fracture toughness and weld porosity could be improved to satisfied characteristics using various welding speeds and electron beam oscillation patterns. Porosity increases in general as welding speed increases. Correlations have been found between fracture toughness and weld porosity.

Effects of ferrite/pearlite alignment on the hydrogen permeation in a AISI 4130 steel
Materials Letters, 1996The effects of banded and random ferrite/pearlite structure on hydrogen permeation in AISI 4130 steel plate have been investigated. Since the pearlitic blocks act as a barrier to hydrogen diffusion, the hydrogen diffusivity in the banded structure was found to be highly anisotropic.

Multi-objective robust evolutionary optimization of the boring process of AISI 4130 steel
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2021Boring is widely applied to enlarge holes. The high L/D ratio of boring bars enables self-excited vibration, deteriorating the quality of the hole. Therefore, this work aims the multi-objective evolutionary robust optimization of the boring process. Robust parameter design is employed to achieve robust models for roughness and roundness concerning tool

Ultra high strength AISI 4130 Steel samples were submitted to various rolling schedules in order to find the rolling conditions leading to the optimum combination of strength and toughness. Reheating temperatures between 900 to 1230°C and reductions between 15 to 90% were employed. Rolling temperatures above Ar3 and also between 620 and 700°C were used

Influence of induction heating on static recrystallization kinetics of AISI 4130 steel
Journal of Emerging InvestigatorsMost metals used in industrial applications undergo at least one form of heat treatment to enhance their mechanical properties. Induction heating is an attractive energy-efficient alternative to conventional radiant heating methods, but its widespread industrial adoption is hindered by fundamental knowledge gaps.

Hydrogen embrittlement of AISI 4130 steel with an alternate ferrite/pearlite banded structure
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1991Abstract The effects of anisotropy on the hydrogen occlusivity, diffusivity and stepwise cracking of AISI 4130 steel with a banded ferrite/pearlite structure have been studied. To determine the hydrogen occlusivity with respect to the direction of banding, hydrogen charging in a H 2 S saturated saline solution was performed.

The Influence of Noble Metal Additions on the Sulfide Corrosion Performance of AISI 4130 Steel
Corrosion, 1982Additions of copper, silver, palladium, platinum, and nickel were made to a 690 MPa yield strength AISI Type 4130 steel to evaluate their influence on the absorption of hydrogen into the steel and the subsequent cracking behavior. The results showed that copper, silver, and nickel additions at the concentration levels of 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, and 1 weight

Fe-Based Amorphous Coatings on AISI 4130 Structural Steel for Corrosion Resistance
JOM, 2012The current study focuses on synthesizing a novel functional coating for corrosion resistance applications, via laser surface alloying. The iron-based (Fe48Cr15Mo14Y2C15B) amorphous precursor powder is used for laser surface alloying on AISI 4130 steel substrate, with a continuous wave ytterbium Nd-YAG fiber laser.

Fatigue crack initiation and propagation in AISI 4130 steel exposed to neutral perchlorate solution
Materials Science and Engineering, 1987Abstract In order to check whether recent results on the corrosion fatigue of copper single crystals may apply to a commercial metal, corrosion fatigue crack initiation and propagation in normalized AISI 4130 steel have been studied (1) in air, (2) in 0.1 M NaClO 4 solution in free corrosion and (3) in the same solution but at an imposed anodic ...
