Characterization of Case Hardened AISI 4130 Steel Using Eddy Current Testing [PDF]
Casting is the manufacturing process of pouring the hot liquiduos state metal in to the mold cavity and then allowed it to solidify to obtain the final casting. There are many defects are found in the casting components during the inspection.

Experimental and Numerical Study of AISI 4130 Steel Surface Hardening by Pulsed Nd:YAG Laser. [PDF]
Laser surface transformation hardening (LSTH) of AISI 4130 was investigated by a Nd:YAG pulsed laser. Laser focal height (LFH), pulse width (LPW), scanning speed (LSS), and power (LP) varied during the experiments. The microstructure of the treated zone was characterized by optical (OM) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM).

Reduced Coefficient of Friction of Laser Surface Hardened AISI 4130 Steel Substrates
AISI 4130 steels have been used in several engineering applications, although presenting limited hardenability in conventional heat treatments. This contribution is aimed at determining the final hardness and reciprocating wear coefficient of friction (COF) after a given laser surface treatment (LST) with or without a carbon coating (C).

Combined Axial Stress Fatigue Reliability for AISI 4130 and 4340 Steels
The failure-governing strength distributions of round specimens are determined. These are subjected to a mean tensile axial stress onto which alternating tensile and compressive axial stresses are superimposed. The AISI 4340 steel specimens are tested for a life of 106 cycles and the AISI 4130 steel specimens for 2 × 106 cycles.

An Analysis of the Mechanical Behavior of AISI 4130 Steel after TIG and Laser Welding Process [PDF]
AbstractMetallic materials have received special attention in the aerospace and defense areas. A few decades ago, Brazil was faced with technological challenges concerning the production and processing of ultra-high strength steels, such as AISI 4340 and SAE 300M steels. The AISI 4130 steel had been also considered, since it is applied in landing gears,

Ballistic Performance and Microstructure of Tempered AISI 4130 Steel
Heat treatment methods are generally carried out to increase ductility, increase hardness, increase metal tensile stress, and so on. AISI 4130 steel is commonly used for manufacturing equipment, vehicle parts, stone-crushing machines to body armor. To improve the quality of the steel, heat treatment is required by providing austenitizing and tempering ...
