Microstructure-Sensitive Fatigue Modeling of AISI 4140 Steel

Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology, 2014
A microstructure-based fatigue model is employed to predict fatigue damage in 4140 steel. Fully reversed, strain control fatigue tests were conducted at various strain amplitudes and scanning electron microscopy was employed to establish structure-property relations between the microstructure and cyclic damage.

Characterization of Friction Welding for IN713LC and AISI 4140 Steel

Materials Science Forum, 2004
Friction welding of dissimilar materials, Ni-base superalloy IN713LC and oil-quench plus tempered AISI 4140 steel, was investigated. Friction welding was carried out with various process variables such as friction pressure and time. The quality of welded joints was tested by applying bending stresses in an appropriate jig.

Variation of the magnetic properties of AISI 4140 steels with plastic strain

Physica Status Solidi (a), 1988
The magnetic properties of five different microstructures of AISI 4140 steel are measured as a function of compressive plastic deformation. Coercivity, hysteresis loss, remanence, permeability, differential permeability, and anhysteretic magnetisation are determined for strains of up to 10%.
