Wear behavior of iron boride coating on AISI 4140

open access: yesProtection of Metals and Physical Chemistry of Surfaces, 2016
A new paste technique was established for making boronising coatings. This method gave iron boride coatings a unique wear and tear property something that was tested as a microstructural feature. The coats were acquired from obtained by transmission of boron molecules from ferrobor concentrates to steel surface.

Multifunctional electroless nickel boron composite coatings incorporated by magnesium diboride ceramic particles

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ceramic Engineering &Science, Volume 6, Issue 6, November 2024.
Abstract In this study, the role of MgB2 in composite coatings is pivotal. Electroless Ni–B plating, a current‐free chemical reduction process, deposits nickel–boron coatings. Other than MgB2, reinforcements like SiC, B4C, and so forth are used with Ni–B coatings for improved properties.

Ispitivanje čelične legure AISI 4140

open access: yes, 2021
The task of the work was to investigate the steel alloy AISI 4140, to determine the chemical properties and test procedure of metallography and microstructure, and to interpret the material and mechanical properties of the selected material. A product in the Fusion 360 software program from thin-sheet metal forming technology was further designed.

Estimating the fatigue limits for quenched and tempered steel rods treated with multifunction cavitation considering residual stress, hardness, and surface pits

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 47, Issue 11, Page 4000-4011, November 2024.
Abstract In this study, multifunction cavitation (MFC) was performed on low‐alloy steel (AISI 4140 steel) rods with different hardnesses to increase their fatigue limit. It was found that a high compressive residual stress was generated on the surface of steel rods by MFC and that the magnitude of the compressive residual stress tended to increase with

Effect of alloyed target vis-à-vis pure target on machining performance of TiAlN coating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Typically closed-field unbalanced magnetron sputtering (CFUBMS) and controlled cathodic arc deposition techniques having four or six pure or alloyed targets are employed for commercial titanium aluminium nitride (TiAlN) coating of cutting tools. The role
