Heat‐treated steel is widely used in industrial applications due to its high strength and other desirable mechanical qualities. Grinding, which requires a lot of power and is expensive, is typically used to harden machining. In recent times, hard machining has emerged as a viable alternative to grind in select applications.

Investigation on the Influence of Shear on Void Closure in Open‐Die Forging Processes
To guarantee the highest mechanical properties, internal defects such as voids must be eliminated during open‐die forging. However, models that predict void closure are generally only suitable for use in the core fiber. To overcome this limitation, an extended void closure model is presented to consider shear outside the core fiber.

Experimental Study of Mechanical Properties of AISI 1045, AISI 1053 and AISI 4140 Steels
AISI 1045, AISI 1053 and AISI 4140 are the mostly used material for axle shaft of a vehicle. The comparative study of these materials definitely will help in selection of appropriate material for required condition. AISI 4140 has shown greater Young’s modulus, yield strength and tensile strength, but moderate ductility is observed. The lesser ductility

Mechanical Properties of Boronized AISI 316, AISI 1040, AISI 1045 and AISI 4140 Steels
In this study, some mechanical properties of borided and unborided four steels were investigated. Boronizing of steels was performed by powder pack method at 1210 K for 4 h. The hardness of borides, boride layer thickness and room temperature tensile properties were measured and it was observed that hardness and tensile properties strongly depend on ...
