Improving Abrasion Resistance of Carbon‐Epoxy Hybrid Composites With Silicon Nitride Fillers

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2025.
This study investigates the effect of silicon nitride filler on the two‐body abrasive wear behavior of carbon fabric‐reinforced epoxy composites. Results reveal a 33.1% reduction in wear volume loss with 6 wt% filler, demonstrating enhanced wear resistance.

From Damage to Functionality: Remanufacturing of Thrust Roller Bearings by Tailored Forming

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 16, August 2025.
Herein, the wear and fatigue behavior of repaired bearing raceways with a new powder alloy is investigated using a FE8 test‐rig and an oscillating tribometer. The tests are compared with industrial manufactured bearings to evaluate the repair quality. The repair can extend the service life of the repaired bearing to that of a new bearing and improves ...

Analysis of the Possibilities of Using Forging Heat in Isothermal Annealing Processes for AISI 4140 Alloy [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2020
Production processes of hot forging most often look similar [1-3]. Forging in several operations, usually in three or four. Most often the first operation is upsetting or flattening (sometimes rolling). The last operation is finishing forging.

An Atomic‐Scale View at γ’‐Fe4N as Hydrogen Barrier Material

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 12, Issue 13, July 14, 2025.
This study demonstrates the efficacy of γ’‐Fe4N nitride layers, formed via gas nitriding, as hydrogen permeation barriers. Advanced characterization, hydrogen permeation analysis, and DFT calculations reveal a 20 fold reduction in hydrogen diffusion at room temperature.
