X-Ray Tests of AISI 430 and 304 Stainless Steels and AISI 1010 Low Carbon Steel Welded by CO2 Laser beam welding

open access: yesMaterials Testing, 2011
Abstract For this study, X-Ray radiographic tests of AISI 430 and 304 stainless steels with AISI 1010 low-carbon steels welded by CO2 Laser beam welding (LBW) have been performed. Laser beam welding experiments were carried out under argon and helium shielding gas, at 2000–2250 and 2500 W heat input and 100-200-300 cm/min welding speeds.

Optimization of austenitic and ferritic steels for deep drawing. Part 1: metallurgical and mechanical analyses.

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity
Deep drawing of stainless steels thin sheets is a cold forming process used to produce components with complex geometries at limited costs. Although it seems a simple shaping technique, this technology requires a high level of know-how, essential to ...

Increasing the strength of AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel by static strain ageing

open access: yes, 2009
In this study, the strain ageing behaviour of AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel is investigated. A certain part of the as-received ferritic stainless steel test pieces was pre-strained for 5 % in tension, then aged at 100, 200, 300, and 400 degrees C for

Study on Electrochemical Behavior at a Room and High Temperature at 700 °C Corrosion of Austenite, Ferrite, and Duplex Stainless Steels

open access: yesMetals
The stainless-steel phase of austenite, ferrite, and duplex was affected by the high temperature corrosion. So, the study of corrosion behavior in high temperatures at 700 °C is important because it is connected to life and maintenance. Various stainless

Investigation of the weldability of AISI 430 and HARDOX 500 steels by CMT method

open access: yesPamukkale University Journal of Engineering Sciences
In this study, AISI-430 and HARDOX 500 steels were welded with Cold Metal Transfer (CMT) welding technique, and the changes in the mechanical properties in the welding and HAZ (Heat Affected Zone) regions were investigated. 100x130x6 mm AISI 430 and HARDOX 500 steels were cut in standard sizes with a band saw and joined by the CMT method using AWS 307 ...

The weld-pool solidification mode of ferritic stainless steels

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2012
The paper presents the analysis of solidification mode at gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) of AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel. Two solidification modes (epitaxial and equiaxial) were discovered, which have a major influence on a weld tensile strength ...
