Grain Orientation, Angle of Incidence, and Beam Polarization Effects on Ultraviolet 300 ps‐Laser‐Induced Nanostructures on 316L Stainless Steel

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 18, Issue 2, February 2024.
A laser line scanning approach is used to nanotexture large areas. The generated nanostructure on each individual grain strongly depends on its crystallographic orientation. Modifying the angle of incidence and laser polarization produces a plethora of ripple surface nanostructures.

Laser‐Textured Surfaces: A Way to Control Biofilm Formation?

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 18, Issue 1, January 2024.
Laser‐texturing appears as a simple and robust strategy for reducing bacterial adhesion of technical surfaces — an approach without chemicals or antibiotics, thus, avoiding bacterial resistances. However, the results reported in the literature are not coherent.

The Effect of the Drawing Die Radius in the Bending Under Tension Test on the Frictional Behaviour of AISI 430 Steel and AW-1100 Aluminium Alloy Sheets

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical and Materials Engineering
Friction is an unfavourable phenomenon in sheet metal forming processes because it increases the forming force, reduces the surface quality of the drawpieces and affects the increased wear of the forming tools.
