Synthesis of Dithienylcycloalkene Molecular Switches Enabled by a Bench‐Stable Ti‐Complex

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Herein we report a set of cycloalkene‐bridged DTEs with ring sizes ranging from 4‐ to 7‐membered rings. The synthesis of these analogs was performed via a key McMurry coupling step, which was enabled by a practical, bench‐stable Ti(IV)‐complex. Remarkably, it is shown that the strained cyclobutene bridge outperforms other rings, even the most commonly ...

Lewis‐Acidic Properties and Catalytic Behavior of Hydroboration‐ and Diolysis‐Derived NHC‐Stabilized Borenium Cations

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A series of thirteen (N‐heterocyclic carbene) NHC‐stabilized borenium cations is synthesized from NHC→BH3 complexes via hydroboration and condensation with diols. The novel compounds are fully characterized. Eight crystal structures are presented. Kinetic and NMR data show how the structural features translate to catalytic activity in hydrosilylation ...

Effects of catechins, resveratrol, silymarin components and some of their conjugates on xanthine oxidase‐catalyzed xanthine and 6‐mercaptopurine oxidation

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 105, Issue 5, Page 2765-2776, 30 March 2025.
Abstract BACKGROUND Over the past two decades, the global incidence of gout has markedly increased, affecting people worldwide. Considering the side effects of xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor drugs (e.g. allopurinol and febuxostat) used in the treatment of hyperuricemia and gout, the potential application of phytochemicals has been widely studied.

Primes in short arithmetic progressions

open access: yes, 2003
We give a large sieve type inequality for functions supported on primes. As application we prove a conjecture by Elliott, and give bounds for short character sums over primes.

Piecewise principal comodule algebras [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A comodule algebra P over a Hopf algebra H with bijective antipode is called principal if the coaction of H is Galois and P is H-equivariantly projective (faithfully flat) over the coaction-invariant subalgebra PcoH.

Aquatic and Littoral Successions in Various Post‐Mining Sites—Patterns and Possible Use in Ecological Restoration

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Vegetation succession in aquatic and littoral habitats has received much less attention than terrestrial habitats have. We sampled differently aged successional stages at five different types of post‐mining sites, that is, sandpits, stone quarries, clay quarries, brown coal spoil heaps and black coal subsidences, across the Czech Republic ...

A Proposal for a Tourism Regionalization of Poland Based on the Highest Levels of Tourism in a Region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The paper presents a brief review of twenty proposals for tourism regionalization of either a part of or the whole of Poland (or attempts to delimit the most attractive areas in terms of leisure), formulated between 1938 and 2012.

Identification of initial vegetation and habitat changes in small temperate fens using remote sensing

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Temperate fens with only incipient, subtle signs of deterioration can be reliably identified using Sentinel‐2 and aerial imagery, which sensitively detect early productivity‐related structural changes. Abstract Small temperate fens rank among the most endangered habitats in temperate Europe.
