Tuning the tools: Validating empirical and modelled correction factors for diet estimation in pelagic teleosts

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract As quantitative diet estimates from biochemical markers grow in popularity, the necessity for robust species‐ and tissue‐specific correction factors, including trophic discrimination factors (TDFs) for stable isotopes and calibration coefficients (CCs) for fatty acids, becomes increasingly urgent.

Species‐Specific Genetic Patterns in Sympatric Freshwater Turtles Challenge a Generalized Multi‐Species Conservation Approach

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
We compared genetic diversity and spatial genetic structure in the snapping turtle (Chelydra serpentina; left panel), Blanding's turtle (Emydoidea blandingii; bottom right), and spotted turtle (Clemmys guttata; top right) sampled in areas of co‐occurrence across ~49,160 km2.

Discrimination experiences are associated with same‐day and next‐day smoking among adults with low socio‐economic status trying to quit: A secondary analysis of data from a randomized clinical trial

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims Research indicates that experiencing discrimination may be associated with a return to smoking following a quit attempt. The current study aimed to characterize day‐to‐day relations between discrimination and smoking in the context of a smoking cessation trial for adults with socio‐economic disadvantage.

Comparative atrial fibrillation risk across Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitors in B‐cell malignancies: A nationwide population‐based study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Real‐world nationwide data in B‐cell malignancies reveal a markedly increased 1‐year incidence of hospitalized atrial fibrillation with ibrutinib compared with second‐generation Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitors and venetoclax, arguing for closer cardiac surveillance.
