The role of developmental plasticity in eco‐phenotypic population dynamics
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Individual variation in development can strongly impact population density via its impact on demography. When this variation in development is caused by developmental plasticity, the resulting effects on population density are characterised as ‘eco‐phenotypic dynamics ...

SUMOylation regulates mitochondrial processes, but its impact on protein import remains unclear. TOM40 is identified, a mitochondrial outer membrane channel protein, as a substrate of deSUMOylase SENP6. TOM40 SUMOylation disrupts outer membrane complex assembly, inhibits protein import, and compromises mitochondrial homeostasis.

SUMOylation of SETD8 Promotes Tumor Growth by Methylating and Stabilizing MYC in Bladder Cancer
In bladder cancer (BC), MYC serves as a novel substrate of SETD8 to be methylated at lysine 412, which enhances MYC protein stability by preventing the CHIP‐mediated degradation and ultimately promotes tumor growth. SUMOylation of SETD8 leads to SETD8 stabilization and enhances MYC methylation.

In this study, it is proposed that SENP3 accumulates in macrophages of aneurysmal aortic tissues, which promotes macrophage ferroptosis and inflammation via regulation of CTH de‐SUMOylation. Abstract Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a high‐risk inflammatory disorder. SENP3, a SUMO2/3‐specific protease, is closely involved in the development of cancer.

Large‐Scale Environmental Drivers of Kelp Biofouling Based on Literature Data
Our findings from data compiled from a systematic literature review and databases of marine data show that kelp biofouling species are linked to environmental conditions and specifically temperature for bryozoans, salinity for gastropods, and the type of kelp population (wild vs. not wild) for hydrozoans.
