Enhanced Mechanical Properties of Injectable Chitosan–Guar Gum Hydrogel Reinforced with Bacterial Cellulose Nanofibers for Tissue Engineering Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the development and characterization of injectable nanocomposite hydrogels based on N‐succinyl chitosan, oxidized guar gum, and bacterial cellulose nanofibers. Emphasizing enhanced mechanical properties and biocompatibility, the hydrogels exhibit fast gelation, improved structural integrity, and reduced swelling. Their potential for

Fission of charged alanine dipeptides [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
In this work we have performed for the first time a systematic analysis of the dissociation and fission pathways of neutral, singly and doubly charged alanine dipeptide ions with the aim to identify the fission mechanism and the most probable fragmentation channels of these type of molecules.

Ras-mediated phosphorylation of a conserved threonine residue enhances the transactivation activities of c-Ets1 and c-Ets2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The Ras oncogene products regulate the expression of genes in transformed cells, and members of the Ets family of transcription factors have been implicated in this process.

A Novel Protein‐Polysaccharide Oral Nanoemulsion Targeting Activated Hepatic Stellate Cells to Enhance the Therapeutic Effect of Pirfenidone on Fibrosis After Transarterial Chemoembolization for Liver Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE) may aggravate liver fibrosis. In this study, a novel oral targeting nanoemulsion is fabricated to enhance the therapeutic effect of antifibrotic drug‐pirfenidone (PFD) on fibrosis after TACE. Studies have shown that PFD nanoemulsion can enhance the oral liver targeting effect of PFD, and effectively improve the ...

Analysis of the Adaptive Multilevel Splitting method on the isomerization of alanine dipeptide [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
We apply the Adaptive Multilevel Splitting method to the Ceq -> Cax transition of alanine dipeptide in vacuum. Some properties of the algorithm are numerically illustrated, such as the unbiasedness of the probability estimator and the robustness of the method with respect to the choice of the reaction coordinate.

Effects of β-alanine supplementation on exercise performance: a meta-analysis

open access: yesAmino Acids, 2012
Due to the well-defined role of β-alanine as a substrate of carnosine (a major contributor to H+ buffering during high-intensity exercise), β-alanine is fast becoming a popular ergogenic aid to sports performance.

Time‐Controlled Dual Targeting to Program Systemic and Intercellular Transfer of Therapeutic Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aspirin‐liposomes loaded onto monocytes enable inflammation‐triggered targeting and efficient hand‐over of aspirin to inflamed cells. Monocytes uptake a significant portion of aspirin‐liposomes, prolonging therapeutic action. This approach enhances anti‐inflammatory effects through intercellular transfer, demonstrating a translational strategy for ...

Mechanisms of Itch Evoked by β-Alanine

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience, 2012
β-alanine, a popular supplement for muscle building, induces itch and tingling after consumption, but the underlying molecular and neural mechanisms are obscure. Here we show that, in mice, β-alanine elicited itch-associated behavior that requires MrgprD,

Experimental and Computational Thermochemical Study of α-Alanine (DL) and β-Alanine

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2010
This paper reports an experimental and theoretical study of the gas phase standard (p° = 0.1 MPa) molar enthalpies of formation, at T = 298.15 K, of α-alanine (DL) and β-alanine. The standard (p° = 0.1 MPa) molar enthalpies of formation of crystalline α-alanine (DL) and β-alanine were calculated from the standard molar energies of combustion, in oxygen,

Sonochemical Functionalization of Glass

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new method for functionalizing glass using ultrasonication of aryl diazonium salts. Aryl radicals generated by ultrasounds react with glass, forming a stable, covalently bonded organic film. The functionalized glass adheres microorganisms such as microalgae, fungi, and bacteria, suggesting potential applications in enzyme production, filtration ...
