Salt‐Compact Albumin as a New Pure Protein‐based Biomaterials: From Design to In Vivo Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
A new class of materials built entirely of native albumin protein is designed using a simple protocol based on salt‐assisted compaction, breaking with current crosslinking strategies. This green process leads, surprisingly, to water‐insoluble handable materials with high preservation of their native protein structures and Young's modulus close to that ...

Glepaglutide‐Loaded Foam for the Induction of Mucosal Healing in the Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
Glepaglutide (GL), a GLP‐2 analog with an extended half‐life (50 h), is currently undergoing clinical trials for patients with short bowel syndrome. GL requires subcutaneous injection, which poses challenges for potential patient compliance. To address this challenge, we loaded GL into a rectal foam formulation using CO2 as a permeation enhancer to ...

Alanine and aspartate aminotransferase and glutamine-cycling pathway: their roles in pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome.

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastroenterology, 2012
Although new research technologies are constantly used to look either for genes or biomarkers in the prediction of metabolic syndrome (MS), the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of this complex disease remains a major challenge. Interestingly, Cheng et al

Carbon‐Based Flexible Electrode for Efficient Electrochemical Generation of Reactive Chlorine Species in Tumor Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible electrode loaded with a carbon nanowire network (CC@C‐NWN) is developed for electrochemically generating reactive chlorine species (RCS) from abundant chloride ions in body fluids for tumor therapy. CC@C‐NWN enhances chlorine evolution, inducing redox dysregulation and synergistic apoptosis‐ferroptosis in tumor cells.

Cardiac Organoid Model Inspired Micro‐Robot Smart Patch to Treat Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The heart organoid model exhibits the acidic microenvironment characteristic of myocardial infarction, which emerges as a pivotal force propelling the movement of micro‐robots. These micro‐robots, administered through microneedles, can penetrate deep into the tissue, effectively delivering therapeutic payloads to facilitate heart repair.

A Multifunctional Binder for Current‐Collector‐Free Zn Powder Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
By introducing abundant polar groups as Zn2+ absorption sites and hydrogen bond arrays, a protein structure‐derived binder for ZP anode and iodine cathode is proposed. This design can regulate the Zn2+ flux, benefit the formation of free‐standing electrode, inhibit the side reactions, suppress the shuttle effect of polyiodides, and enable the large ...

Hyperpolarization of Amino Acid Derivatives in Water for Biological Applications [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
We report on the successful synthesis and hyperpolarization of N unprotected {\alpha} amino acid ethyl acrylate esters and extensively, on an alanine derivative hyperpolarized by PHIP (4.4$\pm$1% $^{13}$C-polarization), meeting required levels for in vivo detection.
