Gamma-glutamyltransferase, alanine transaminase and aspartate transaminase levels and the diagnosis of gestational diabetes mellitus

Clinical Biochemistry, 2012
To evaluate gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT), alanine transaminases (ALT) and aspartate transaminases (AST) levels and prevalent gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).Random plasma glucose, GGT, ALT and AST and the 50-g glucose challenge test were done on antenatal women followed by diagnostic 3-point 75-g oral glucose tolerance test within two weeks. GDM

Multienzyme-modified biosensing surface for the electrochemical analysis of aspartate transaminase and alanine transaminase in human plasma

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2011
We investigated the electrochemical detection of aspartate transaminase (AST) and alanine transaminase (ALT) by using a multienzyme-modified electrode surface. Determination of the activities of transaminases in human serum is clinically significant because their concentrations and ratios indicate the presence of hepatic diseases or myocardial ...

High Risk of Fatty Liver Disease Amplifies the Alanine Transaminase–Lowering Effect of a HSD17B13 Variant

Hepatology, 2020
A common loss‐of‐function variant in HSD17B13 (rs72613567:TA) was recently found to protect from chronic liver disease. Whether the variant confers protection from specific risk factors for liver disease is unclear.

Aspartate and Alanine Transaminases in Middle Ear Effusions

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1975
Mucous secretion from 24 ears with secretory otitis media was analysed for aspartate aminotransferase (Asp-AT) and from 18 ears for alanine aminotransferase (Ala-AT). The activity of both these enzymes in middle ear fluids was 40 times larger than in serum, the differences being statistically significant.

Aspartate transaminase/alanine transaminase (De Ritis ratio) predicts survival in major burn patients

Burns, 2022
Although treatment of burn patients has significantly improved in recent decades, major burns remain fatal. Therefore, the evaluation of the death risk of the patients with extensive burns is very important. The ratio between the serum levels of aspartate transaminase and alanine transaminase (De Ritis ratio) was an independent predictor of poor ...

Inhibition of Alanine Transaminase by the Hypoglycæmic Sulphonylurea Derivatives

Nature, 1957
BECAUSE of the recent interest in the mechanism of action of the two antidiabetic sulphonylurea derivatives, carbutamide (N1 sulphanilyl N2 n-butylcarbamide) and tolbutamide (N1 p-toluylsulphonyl N2 n-butylcarbamide), the effect of these compounds on the liver transaminase system was investigated, since inhibition of transamination reactions could lead

Glutamine synthetase and alanine transaminase expression are decreased in livers of aged vs. young beef cows and GS can be upregulated by 17β-estradiol implants.

Journal of Animal Science, 2015
Aged beef cows (≥ 8 yr of age) produce calves with lower birth and weaning weights. In mammals, aging is associated with reduced hepatic expression of glutamine synthetase (GS) and alanine transaminase (ALT), thus impaired hepatic Gln-Glu cycle function.
