Contraindicated drug–drug interactions and associated adverse drug reactions in an observational cohort study of 4543 paediatric hospitalized patients

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 8, Page 2834-2852, August 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose Drug–drug interactions (DDIs) are associated with an increased risk of adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Hospitalized children are particularly vulnerable to DDIs and ADRs due to polypharmacy, frequent use of unlicensed or off‐label medications, and dosing regimens often extrapolated from adult data.

Increasing the reporting of adverse drug reaction‐related hospitalizations using an ICD‐10‐based identification workflow: A multicentre study from Switzerland

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 92, Issue 8, Page 2937-2948, August 2026.
Background Reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs) is essential for drug safety. In Switzerland, healthcare professionals are legally required to report serious and unlabelled ADRs, yet under‐reporting remains widespread. We tested a novel method to increase reporting of ADR‐related hospitalizations.

Lipid‐based Nano‐delivery systems as a promising strategy for the treatment of epilepsy: Current status and challenges

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 4, Page 1095-1110, August 2026.
Abstract Objective Epilepsy is a prevalent chronic neurological disorder characterized by abnormal neuronal electrical activity. The primary treatment modality for individuals with epilepsy (PWE) is antiseizure medication (ASM). The multiple potential factors contributing to treatment resistance in epilepsy may be attributed to the inability of ASMs to

Ketogenic diet therapy for children with super‐refractory status epilepticus in intensive care: International clinical practice recommendations

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 4, Page 1354-1369, August 2026.
Abstract Objective We aimed to create practical recommendations to support healthcare teams starting ketogenic diet therapy (KDT) for children with super‐refractory status epilepticus in intensive care settings. Methods A literature review was conducted to extract published data on patient selection, diet prescription, diet initiation, monitoring, fine‐

A first in disease trial of the safety, tolerability, and anti‐seizure effects of ES‐481 in drug‐resistant epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 4, Page 1329-1342, August 2026.
Abstract Objectives ES‐481 is a novel potent and selective antagonist of TARP‐y8‐dependent AMPA receptors. We aimed to assess the potential efficacy, safety and tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of different doses of ES‐481 as an add‐on anti‐seizure medication (ASM) in adults with drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE). Methods This was a Phase 2A double‐blind,

Associations of C‐Reactive Protein‐Triglyceride Glucose Index and Estimated Pulse Wave Velocity With All‐Cause Mortality: A Nationwide Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims The combined prognostic value of metaflammation and vascular aging markers in cardiovascular‐kidney‐metabolic (CKM) syndrome is unclear. This study aimed to assess the independent and joint associations of the C‐reactive protein‐triglyceride glucose index (CTI) and estimated pulse wave velocity (ePWV) with all‐cause ...
