Epidural Hematoma Following Hemodialysis in a Methanol Poisoned Pa-tient; a Case Report

open access: yesEmergency, 2014
Brain injury associated with methanol toxicity can be ischemic, necrotic or hemorrhagic in nature. It most commonly affects the putamenal area bilaterally, but can be seen in other locations.

The detection of alcohol intoxication using electrooculography signals from smart glasses and machine learning techniques

open access: yesSystems and Soft Computing
The operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol poses a significant risk to the safety of the driver, passengers, and other road users. Electrooculographic (EOG) signal analysis can be used to understand the movements and behavior of the ...

Rich‐Electronic Interface Promoting Hydrogen‐Bond Reversible Formation for Ultra‐Stable and Energy‐Efficient Catalytic CO2 Capture

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Bridging micro–macro scales, a biomass‐derived Ni@C interface creates electron‐rich sites and hydrogen‐bond proton‐relay pathways, tuning interfacial charge and reversible hydrogen bond to enhance carbon capture capacity. Verified by in situ spectroscopy, multi‐scale simulations, and long‐term industrial testing, this system enables low‐temperature and

Strongly‐Anchored Ionomer‐Free Anode Catalyst Layer Fabricated via Joule Heating Achieves Efficient Electron/Mass Transfer for Acidic Water Electrolysis

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
An ionomer‐free anode catalyst layer is fabricated via rapid Joule heating, partially embedding IrO2 nanoparticles into the membrane to form a robust, anchored interface. This architecture eliminates ionomer‐induced poisoning and mass‐transport barriers, enabling efficient water‐mediated proton transport and electronic connectivity.

Gut and bladder fermentation syndromes: a narrative review

open access: yesBMC Medicine
We recently reported the first clinical case of bladder fermentation syndrome (BFS) or urinary auto-brewery syndrome, which caused the patient to fail abstinence monitoring.

Comparison of Alcohol-Induced Hepatoprotective Effects of the High Fischer Ratio Oligopeptides with/Without Half Substitution by Pueraria lobata

open access: yesFoods
Long-term excessive intake of alcohol can cause serious damage to the liver, and the study of natural active ingredients with hepatoprotective effects is of great significance for the prevention and treatment of alcoholic liver injury.

Nickel‐Catalyzed Reductive Cross‐Coupling of Xanthate Esters With Aryl and Alkenyl Iodides

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A nickel‐catalyzed reductive cross‐coupling of xanthate esters and aryl/alkenyl iodides is reported without the need for separate activators for the xanthate esters. The reaction utilizes a relatively low catalyst loading. Diarylmethanes with a good functional group variety can thus be synthesized indirectly from the corresponding benzylic alcohols ...

Oxidation of Allylic Alcohols by Manganese Oxides: Elucidating the Influences of MnOx Structure and Mn Oxidation State on Reactivity

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Manganese oxides (MnOX) of different structures and with different Mn oxidation states exhibit significant variation in their reactivity toward the oxidation of allylic alcohols. Using two allylic alcohol model substrates, we demonstrate the relationship between activity and MnOX structure, Mn4+ content and incorporated secondary cations.

Composition of Purified CO2 From Steel Mill Processes—A Classification and Analytical Comparison With Commercial CO2

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Due to the severe catalyst poisoning effect of certain trace components, the purity of CO2 is the main attribute to qualify it as syngas for further downstream processes. This study uses PTR–MS to investigate the trace components of the CO2 produced within the Carbon2Chem project.
