An on‐surface Diels–Alder reaction [PDF]

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2021
AbstractThe Diels–Alder reaction is one of the most popular reactions in organic chemistry. However, its use in the field of on‐surface synthesis is hampered by the spatial restrictions of this cycloaddition reaction. Herein we selected a cyclic strained triyne to demonstrate an on‐surface hexadehydro‐Diels–Alder reaction in a single molecule.

The Alder Hey affair [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Disease in Childhood, 2002
Implications for pathology practice In recent years, the general public's confidence in the medical profession has been damaged by several serious incidents and the media fuelled storms that have followed. Notable among these are the murders committed by the general practitioner Harold Shipman, the inquiry into cervical screening at Kent and ...

Make‐Use‐Remake: Toward Indefinite Low‐Temperature Material Loops

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a regenerable materials platform built from microparticles bound by a temperature‐responsive polymer shell, enabling strong, processable structures from diverse feedstocks. The material is shaped at low temperatures (80°C) using common manufacturing methods and reprocessed repeatedly in the presence of water, demonstrating stable ...

Tunable Synthesis of Multi‐Responsive NH‐Containing Helical Nanographenes With a Chiroptical Switching Function

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The Scholl reaction of 1,3,6,8‐tetrakis(oligophenyl)‐appended carbazoles afforded stable NH‐containing helical nanographenes, which showed significant redshift and reversible on/off switching of CPL upon the addition of base and acid, respectively. Furthermore, excited‐state proton transfer occurred in dimethyl sulfoxide to generate anionic species ...

A Chemical Framework for Engineering Extracellular Vesicles’ Biointerface to Advance Precision Therapeutics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are cell‐derived nanoparticles that mediate intercellular communication through their dynamic biointerfaces. Owing to their intrinsic biological functions, EVs have emerged as promising platforms for biomedical applications.

Palladium‐Catalyzed Annulations of an Anti‐Bredt Olefin

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report metal‐catalyzed trappings of a [2.2.1]‐bridged bicyclic anti‐Bredt olefin (ABO). The methodology yields unusual heterocyclic products and is expected to prompt the further development of unconventional reactions, including metal‐catalyzed processes of ABOs and other strained olefins. ABSTRACT A famous class of alkene‐containing compounds that
