Early to Mid‐Holocene Cool Temperature‐Induced Drought in Asian Interior

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 4, 28 February 2026.
Abstract Hydroclimatic variations in mid‐latitude Asia during the early to mid‐Holocene and associated mechanisms remain disputed, hampering our understanding of atmospheric circulation controls on regional climatic changes. We report Holocene alkenone records from two Siberian lakes, documenting lake temperature and hydrological changes, and ...

Cyclacene Stability: The Interplay of Strain, Aromaticity and Force Coupling

open access: yesJournal of Computational Chemistry, Volume 47, Issue 5, 15 February 2026.
Cyclacene stability arises from a balance between structural strain and aromaticity. Strain‐corrected heats of hydrogenation reveal that cyclacene thermodynamic stability is governed primarily by ring strain rather than aromatic stabilization.

An Expanded Toolbox for Versatile Chemical Editing of Adeno‐Associated Virus

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 7, 9 February 2026.
We describe technology to introduce diverse non‐natural chemical functionalities site‐specifically into the capsid of adeno‐associated virus through genetic code expansion, and using them to engineer this leading vector for human gene therapy for enhanced tissue specificity and reduced immunogenicity Abstract Site‐specific incorporation of noncanonical

Direct Identification and Quantification of Flavonoids and Their Structural Isomers Using Ambient Ionization Tandem Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 40, Issue 3, 15 February 2026.
ABSTRACT Rationale Flavonoids are phenolic compounds with many health‐benefiting properties. However, differentiating different types of flavonoids and their isomers is challenging due to their highly similar structures of various subtypes and different numbers and sites of substituents.

Design, Synthesis, and Biological Evaluation of Pseudo‐Natural Products Inspired by Aryloctahydroindole Alkaloids

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 3, 12 February 2026.
Mesembrine alkaloid pseudo‐natural products were synthesized employing a microwave‐assisted Diels–Alder reaction as a key step. Morphological profiling by cell painting revealed compound‐topology‐dependent mitochondrial fragmentation or inhibition of respiration.
