Bioconversion and characterization of watermelon rind waste‐based microcrystalline cellulose: A green alternative to synthetic reinforcements

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was extracted from watermelon rind using acid hydrolysis. MCC can be efficiently used as reinforcement in biofilms and biocomposites. Abstract The increasing accumulation of agricultural waste from watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) represents a substantial environmental concern, particularly in view of the extensive ...

Ionothermal Synthesis of Cu(Sb2Se3)[AlCl4] and Cu5(Bi2Se3)6[AlCl4]5 : Monolayers of Sb2Se3 and Bi2Se3 Stabilized by Cu[AlCl4]

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
Ionothermal synthesis in Lewis‐acidic ionic liquids (ILs) yields two new low‐dimensional pnictogen–selenide networks cocrystallized with Cu[AlCl4]. Both are narrow‐gap semiconductors that exhibit strong absorption throughout the visible range. Topochemical AlCl3 extraction triggers partial delamination, pointing to a viable route toward 2D derivatives.

A reappraisal of the Middle to Later Stone Age prehistory of Morocco Réévaluer la préhistoire du Maroc, du Middle Stone Age au Later Stone Age

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
Over the last 25 years, perceptions of the early prehistory of Northwest Africa have undergone radical changes due to new fieldwork projects and a corresponding growth in scientific interest in the region. Much of this work has been focused in Morocco, known for its extremely rich fossil and archaeological records in caves and rock shelters.

Recent Advances in Boron Removal From Geothermal Waters: A Review

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, EarlyView.
This review provides a comprehensive overview of boron removal technologies from geothermal fluids and highlights the limitations of conventional treatment methods. Ion exchange, hybrid processes and membrane filtration are identified as the most dominant approaches in recent studies.

Augmenting erythropoiesis using recombinant human erythropoietin at sea level blunts the high altitude induced increase in erythropoiesis

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Pharmacologically augmenting erythropoiesis with rEPO at sea level blunts the high altitude induced erythropoiesis. Abstract Erythropoiesis increases with high altitude (HA) acclimatization. Recombinant human erythropoietin (rEPO) induces erythropoiesis.

Zinc–Adenine Metal‐Organic Frameworks for Electrochemical Detection of VCAM‐1+CD63+ Endothelial Cell‐derived Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
CD63‑aptamer zinc–adenine metal‐organic framework (CD63@ZnMOF) captures and concentrates extracellular vesicles (EVs) from serum before transfer to a VCAM‑1 aptamer‑modified gold electrode. This dual‐aptamer design enables specific detection of VCAM‑1+CD63+ endothelial EVs without additional redox labelling probes.

Lithium Isotopic Analysis of Spodumene by Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 40, Issue 13, 15 July 2026.
ABSTRACT Rationale Lithium (Li) stable isotopes can provide insight into fluid–rock interaction and magmatic differentiation. Therefore, it is essential to develop an accurate and precise method to determine the Li isotope signature in spodumene.

Ablation Properties of HfC–SiC–WC Ultra‐High Temperature Ceramics Produced by Pressureless Sintering

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ceramic Engineering &Science, Volume 8, Issue 4, July 2026.
Schematic diagram highlighting the processes that occur during ablation testing of HfC–SiC and HfC–SiC–WC. ABSTRACT HfC–SiC is one of the leading thermal insulation ceramics that has the potential to perform well under high thermomechanical loads. In this study, we explore the use of pressureless sintering to produce this material at relatively low ...

Glycaemic Control According to the Final Insulin Dose Using an Innovative Fixed‐Dose Titration of Weekly Insulin Efsitora in Insulin‐Naïve Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 7, Page 6217-6224, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Aims In the QWINT‐1 phase 3 Trial, once‐weekly insulin efsitora alfa (efsitora) administered using an innovative fixed‐dose regimen demonstrated noninferior HbA1c reduction versus once‐daily insulin glargine U100 (glargine) over 52 weeks in insulin‐naïve adults with type 2 diabetes.
