Poseidon and Neptune: Gröbner Basis Cryptanalysis Exploiting Subspace Trails

open access: yesIACR Transactions on Symmetric Cryptology
At the current state of the art, algebraic attacks are the most efficient method for finding preimages and collisions for arithmetization-oriented hash functions, such as the closely related primitives Poseidon/Poseidon2 and Neptune.

Review of Memristors for In‐Memory Computing and Spiking Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
Memristors uniquely enable energy‐efficient, brain‐inspired computing by acting as both memory and synaptic elements. This review highlights their physical mechanisms, integration in crossbar arrays, and role in spiking neural networks. Key challenges, including variability, relaxation, and stochastic switching, are discussed, alongside emerging ...

Preimage and collision attacks on reduced Ascon using algebraic strategies

open access: yesCybersecurity
Ascon, a family of algorithms that supports hashing and authenticated encryption, is the winner of the NIST Lightweight Cryptography Project. In this paper, we propose an improved preimage attack against 2-round Ascon-XOF-64 with a complexity of $$2^{33}$

A New Padé Approach to Modeling Wormholes in Dekel‐Zhao Dark Matter Halos

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 538, Issue 3, March 2026.
A matter‐first Padé strategy is introduced to build traversable wormholes from prescribed dark‐matter halos. Rational Padé fits approximately the Dekel–Zhao density and are analytically integrated to obtain a shape function that exactly reproduces the intended matter content, avoiding spurious poles of geometry‐first schemes.

Learning hydrocracking reaction dynamics via neural ODEs: A data‐driven, gradient‐interpretable lumped modelling framework

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 3, Page 1372-1386, March 2026.
This work demonstrates the application of neural ordinary differential equations (neural ODEs) for learning hydrocracking reaction kinetics directly from data, achieving robust predictions under noise and sparsity while preserving mechanistic interpretability through gradient‐based analysis of temperature‐ and concentration‐dependent reaction rates ...

Finite Element Analysis and ANN Validation of Mixed Convection Nanofluid Flow in a Star‐Shaped Corrugated Cavity With Multiple Heated Baffles

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study carefully examines the mixed convection heat transport properties of a water–Al2O3 nanofluid inside a corrugated chamber with heated baffles in the shape of a star. The effects of different Rayleigh numbers, nanoparticle volume fractions, and baffle placement are carefully evaluated, and the cavity is subjected to buoyancy forces. The finite

Empowering Senegalese Farmers Through Adaptive Expenditure Strategies for Climate Resilience

open access: yesFood and Energy Security, Volume 15, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Farmer households employ various coping strategies to address climate and non‐climate shocks, which are primarily categorized into production‐focused and consumption‐focused approaches. While the former has been extensively remarked on in recent studies, the latter has received little attention in the literature.

Enhancing Robustness in Finite‐Strain Crystal Plasticity: An Interior Point Method With Sequential Rotation Updates

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Crystal plasticity simulations offer insights into the anisotropic deformation of polycrystalline materials such as metals and alloys. However, rate‐independent crystal plasticity models encounter the Taylor ambiguity, where the active slip systems and plastic slip magnitudes are not uniquely defined, posing well‐known numerical challenges [1].

Methodological Frameworks for Computational Electrocatalysis: From Theory to Practice

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 5, 9 March 2026.
Computational modeling is widely used to investigate electrocatalytic reactions, yet accurately describing electrochemical interfaces remains challenging. This review outlines theoretical and computational strategies, based on density functional theory, to model reaction thermodynamics, solvation effects, applied bias, and kinetics.
