Young people's occupational aspirations beyond the aspiration discourse: A sociocultural perspective

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Young people's aspirations have been the focus of many educational, sociological and psychological studies. This paper argues, firstly, that the concept of aspirations holds greater generative potential than suggested by the policy‐oriented ‘aspiration discourse’.

DVR-Matroids of Algebraic Extensions

open access: yes, 2022
A matroid is a finite set E along with a collection of subsets of E, called independent sets, that satisfy certain conditions. The most well-known matroids are linear matroids, which come from a finite subset of a vector space over a field K.

Occupational Context Moderates the Association Between Agreeableness and Brain Structure

open access: yesBrain Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Previous research on associations between personality traits and brain structure has yielded inconsistent findings, suggesting that such relationships may depend on contextual factors. Methods This study examined whether occupational context moderates the association between agreeableness and gray matter volume (GMV). Structural MRI

DECIDABLE ALGEBRAIC FIELDS

open access: yes, 2017
We discuss the connection between decidability of a theory of a large algebraic extensions of ${\Bbb Q}$ and the recursiveness of the field as a subset of a fixed algebraic closure.

Eco‐Innovation, Economic Complexity, and Sustainability: A Bibliometric and Systematic Literature Review

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study systematizes the literature on eco‐innovation and economic complexity, aiming to understand how the sophistication of productive structures shapes countries' capacity to develop environmentally responsible innovations, and how eco‐innovation may, in turn, influence productive sophistication.

Equality of norm groups of subextensions of Sn(n⩽5) extensions of algebraic number fields

open access: yes, 2003
Let E/k be a Galois extension of algebraic number fields with the Galois group isomorphic to the symmetric group Sn on n⩽5 letters. For any field extensions k⊆K, L⊆E a necessary and a sufficient condition is given for the equality NK/kK∗=NL/kL∗ to hold ...

Beyond Economic‐Environmental Dominance: Knowledge Management and Responsible Sustainability in Business Strategy Research

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study provides an exploratory, descriptive analysis of how knowledge management (KM) research engages with responsible sustainability from a strategic perspective. Using bibliometric science mapping, we analyse 97 Web of Science publications to identify dominant thematic patterns, relative emphases and conceptual blind spots shaping the ...

Abstract isomorphisms of simple algebraic groups split by quadratic extensions

open access: yes, 1981
Abstract isomorphisms of a big subgroup of an anisotropic absolutely almost simple algebraic group split by a separable quadratic extension of the base field with big subgroups of other semi-simple algebraic groups are shown to have a standard ...

A hidden Markov model and reinforcement learning‐based strategy for fault‐tolerant control

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study introduces a data‐driven control strategy integrating hidden Markov models (HMM) and reinforcement learning (RL) to achieve resilient, fault‐tolerant operation against persistent disturbances in nonlinear chemical processes. Called hidden Markov model and reinforcement learning (HMMRL), this strategy is evaluated in two case studies

Bayesian inverse ensemble forecasting for COVID‐19

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, EarlyView.
Abstract Variations in strains of COVID‐19 have a significant impact on the rate of surges and on the accuracy of forecasts of the epidemic dynamics. The primary goal for this article is to quantify the effects of varying strains of COVID‐19 on ensemble forecasts of individual “surges.” By modelling the disease dynamics with an SIR model, we solve the ...
