Varieties of algebras and algebraic varieties

Israel Journal of Mathematics, 1996
The subject of the paper is algebraic geometry in arbitrary algebraic structures. The paper contains a survey of the author's results on this subject. No proofs are included. Results announced in the paper are proved in other papers of the author [e.g., in: S. I. Kublanovsky et al.

LATTICES OF VARIETIES OF ALGEBRAS

Mathematics of the USSR-Sbornik, 1980
Let be an associative and commutative ring with 1, a subsemigroup of the multiplicative semigroup of , not containing divisors of zero, and some variety of -algebras. A study is made of the homomorphism from the lattice of all subvarieties of into the lattice of all varieties of -algebras, which is induced in a certain natural sense by the ...

PROJECTIONS OF ALGEBRAIC VARIETIES

Mathematics of the USSR-Sbornik, 1983
This paper gives conditions which are necessary and sufficient in order that a generic projection of a projective variety not have singularities other than those coming from the singularities of the original variety. In particular it turns out that this is possible only for varieties of large codimension. Bibliography: 5 titles.

CROSS VARIETIES OF ALGEBRAS

Mathematics of the USSR-Sbornik, 1982
This paper gives sufficient conditions and a method for establishing that a variety generated by a finite algebra is Cross. As a corollary, it is established that the varieties generated by finite alternative, Jordan, Mal'cev, and -algebras are Cross.Bibliography: 14 titles.

Arithmetic on algebraic varieties

The Annals of Mathematics, 1951
D. G. Northcott has recently contributed some interesting new theorems ([4a], [4b]) to a subject which I introduced in my thesis [1] under the above-given title, and which had been further developed by Siegel [2] and myself [3]. It is my purpose here, by making explicit some concepts which had remained implicit in these papers, to supply what seems to ...
