A comparative study on q-deformed fermion oscillators [PDF]
In this paper, the algebras, representations, and thermostatistics of four types of fermionic q-oscillator models, called fermionic Newton (FN), Chaichian-Kulish-Ng (CKN), Parthasarathy-Viswanathan-Chaichian (PVC), Viswanathan-Parthasarathy-Jagannathan-Chaichian (VPJC), are discussed.

Daily ingestion of alginate reduces energy intake in free-living subjects [PDF]
Sodium alginate is a seaweed-derived fibre that has previously been shown to moderate appetite in models of acute feeding. The mechanisms underlying this effect may include slowed gastric clearance and attenuated uptake from the small intestine. In order

Colonization of the lungs by biofilm-forming pathogens is a major cause of mortality in cystic fibrosis (CF). In CF patients, these pathogens are difficult to treat due to the additional protection provided by both the biofilm exopolysaccharide matrix ...

Diffusion of Oligonucleotides from within Iron-Crosslinked Polyelectrolyte-Modified Alginate Beads: A Model System for Drug Release [PDF]
We developed and experimentally verified an analytical model to describe diffusion of oligonucleotides from stable hydrogel beads. The synthesized alginate beads are Fe3+-cross-linked as well as polyelectrolyte-doped for uniformity and stability at physiological pH.

A comparison of enhancement techniques for footwear impressions on dark and patterned fabrics [PDF]
The use of chemical enhancement techniques on porous substrates, such as fabrics, poses several challenges predominantly due to the occurrence of background staining and diffusion as well as visualisation difficulties.

Alginates along the filament of the brown alga Ectocarpus help cells cope with stress
Ectocarpus is a filamentous brown alga, which cell wall is composed mainly of alginates and fucans (80%), two non-crystalline polysaccharide classes.

Characterization of Alginates of Sargassum from the Archipelago of Guadeloupe
Sargassum is a genus of brown algae that causes a major impact to marine ecosystems. Although accumulation of this invasive seaweed is considered an environmental problem, Sargassum can also be resource of valuable molecules such as alginates.

The cellular uptake of drug carriers to the cytosol of a specific cell remains challenging, and a non‐classical supramolecular strategy is motivated. Here, we select a model host–guest complex in which a diamino‐viologen (1,1′‐bis(4‐aminophenyl)‐[4,4 ...

Effect of encapsulated graphene oxide on alginate-based bead adsorption to remove acridine orange from aqueous solutions [PDF]
Environmentally-benign high-performance graphene oxide (GO)/alginate-based absorbents were prepared to eliminate acridine orange selected as a typical dye. Characterizations demonstrated GO well encapsulated and its promotion of pore formation on structure.
