Algorithmic Approaches to Setup Minimization

SIAM Journal on Computing, 1985
Constructions of classes of ordered sets are given for which the setup minimization problem can be solved by an efficient algorithm. Those constructions generalize series-parallel connections. Special classes of ordered sets are exhibited for which the greedy algorithm yields an optimal linear extension.

Subungual Tumors: An Algorithmic Approach

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2019
The presentation of benign and malignant subungual tumors often follows a final common pathway of nonspecific nail deformity; as such, delays in diagnosis are common. Therefore, it is imperative to have a high degree of suspicion for malignant lesions and an organized approach to subungual tumors.

Algorithm-Level Approaches

2018
Algorithm-level solutions can be seen as an alternative approach to data pre-processing methods for handling imbalanced datasets. Instead of focusing on modifying the training set in order to combat class skew, this approach aims at modifying the classifier learning procedure itself.

Algorithmic Approaches to Hemostasis Testing

Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, 2014
There are many unique issues that may make a pathologist's consultation helpful in hemostasis testing. Besides the rapidly expanding knowledge of both bleeding and thrombotic disorders and a wide test menu, hemostasis testing is very sensitive to preanalytical issues (hemolysis, fill volume, time, temperature, storage conditions) and the interference ...

An algorithmic approach to electroacoustical analogies

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2022
The low-frequency behavior of acoustical transducers can be simulated with the so-called electroacoustical analogies (or lumped parameters). The main idea is that visual inspection of the transducer allows the derivation of an electroacoustic circuit that can be analyzed.

Subungual Glomus Tumors: An Algorithmic Approach

Annals of Plastic Surgery, 1994
Glomus tumors of the hand are benign lesions that historically have often eluded a timely diagnosis and effective therapy. The reason for this difficulty in diagnosis lies partially in the rarity of these lesions. A certain degree of suspicion as well as a knowledge of the appropriate workup are necessary.
