Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Аlgorithmic and Conceptual Approach to Figure Surface Measurement

open access: yesInovacije u Nastavi, 2019
Surface measurement is an important topic of the school curricula which is closely related to other mathematical topics and to the real world. The results of numerous international studies show that students' achievements in the area of surface ...

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

An Algorithmic Approach to Chain Recurrence [PDF]

open access: yesFoundations of Computational Mathematics, 2005
In this paper we give a new definition of the chain recurrent set of a continuous map using finite spatial discretizations. This approach allows for an algorithmic construction of isolating blocks for the components of Morse decompositions which approximate the chain recurrent set arbitrarily closely as well as discrete approximations of Conley's ...

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

An algorithmic approach to the existence of ideal objects in commutative algebra

open access: yes, 2019
The existence of ideal objects, such as maximal ideals in nonzero rings, plays a crucial role in commutative algebra. These are typically justified using Zorn's lemma, and thus pose a challenge from a computational point of view.

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Algorithmic Gossiping: sharing and non-sharing that evolve algorithmic imaginaries to folk theories

open access: yesInformation Research: An International Electronic Journal
Introduction. This paper presents a work-in-progress diary study exploring how algorithmic gossiping contributes to the transformation of individual, momentary algorithmic imaginaries into shared and consolidated folk theories. Method.
