SALZA: Practical Algorithmic Information Theory and Sharper Universal String Similarity
Practical algorithmic information theory often relies on using off-the-shelf compressors, which both limits the range of target applications and introduces inaccuracies caused by the compressors implementation constraints and the fact that they are only ...

Algorithmic information theory and martingales
The notion of an individual random sequence goes back to von Mises. We describe the evolution of this notion, especially the use of martingales (suggested by Ville), and the development of algorithmic information theory in 1960s and 1970s (Solomonov, Kolmogorov, Martin-Lof, Levin, Chaitin, Schnorr and others).

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Is Consciousness Computable? Quantifying Integrated Information Using Algorithmic Information Theory [PDF]
In this article we review Tononi’s (2008) theory of consciousness as integrated information. We argue that previous formalizations of integrated information (e.g. Griffith, 2014) depend on information loss.

Objective To investigate the association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and coronary artery calcium (CAC) prevalence, incidence, and progression over four years in adults without prior cardiovascular disease. Methods A case‐cohort study within the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA‐Brasil) included 585 participants (86 patients with ...

C. Elegans locomotion analysis using algorithmic information theory
International audienceThis article investigates the use of algorithmic information theory to analyse C. elegans datasets. The ability of complexity measures to detect similarity in animals' behaviours is demonstrated and their strengths are compared to ...

Objective JAK inhibitors (JAKis) have shown promising effects in early‐phase studies of SSc. We aimed to assess the safety and explore effectiveness of JAKis compared to conventional immunosuppressants in SSc. Methods A longitudinal retrospective study of the EUSTAR cohort was performed.
