Risk of Non‐Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy in Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension Patients Treated with GLP‐1 Receptor Agonists

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) have demonstrated significant weight‐reducing effects and may offer benefits in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH); however, recent concerns about the risk of non‐arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) have emerged.

Streaming Algorithms for Products of Probabilities

open access: yes
We consider streaming algorithms for approximating a product of input probabilities up to multiplicative error of $1-ε$. It is shown that every randomized streaming algorithm for this problem needs space $Ω(\log n + \log b - \log ε) - \mathcal{O}(1)$, where $n$ is length of the input stream and $b$ is the bit length of the input numbers.

Peripheral Neutrophil Activation and Extracellular Trap Formation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Markers of neutrophil activation are increased in plasma during ALS, and markers of NET formation associate with ALS survival. ABSTRACT Objectives Peripheral neutrophil levels in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) inversely correlate with survival, suggesting a role for neutrophils in disease progression.

Mitigating Algorithmic Bias Through Probability Calibration: A Case Study on Lead Generation Data

open access: yesMathematics
Probability calibration is commonly utilized to enhance the reliability and interpretability of probabilistic classifiers, yet its potential for reducing algorithmic bias remains under-explored.

Sex‐Stratified Association of Regional Dopamine Transporter Binding With Disease Progression in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To clarify the clinical relevance of dopamine transporter single‐photon emission computed tomography (DAT‐SPECT) abnormalities in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), with a prespecified focus on sex‐stratified associations with disease progression and short‐term prognosis.

Uncovering G Protein‐Coupled Receptors: Novel Targets and Biomarkers for Predicting Glioma Prognosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Low‐grade gliomas (LGG) exhibit significant heterogeneity and recurrence risk. G protein‐coupled receptors (GPCR) contribute to glioma malignant progression, but their prognostic value remains unclear. This work attempts to formulate a GPCR‐based outcome‐predicting model for LGG. Methods Based on TCGA LGG data, the enrichment scores

Soft Randomized Machine Learning Procedure for Modeling Dynamic Interaction of Regional Systems

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
The paper suggests a randomized model for dynamic migratory interaction of regional systems. The locally stationary states of migration flows in the basic and immigration systems are described by corresponding entropy operators.

Evolution and impact of bias in human and machine learning algorithm interaction.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Traditionally, machine learning algorithms relied on reliable labels from experts to build predictions. More recently however, algorithms have been receiving data from the general population in the form of labeling, annotations, etc.

Success probability in Shor's Algorithm

open access: yesCoRR
This paper aims to determine the exact success probability at each step of Shor's algorithm. Although the literature usually provides a lower bound on this probability, we present an improved bound. The derived formulas enable the identification of all failure cases in Shor's algorithm, which correspond to a success probability of zero.
