Thermodynamical aspect of radical scavenging activity of alizarin and alizarin red S. Theoretical comparative study

Computational and Theoretical Chemistry, 2014
In this paper the conformational behavior and thermodynamics of radical scavenging action of alizarin (A) and alizarin red S (ARS) were investigated at the M06-2X/6-311++G(d,p) and M06-2X/cc-pVTZ levels of theory in the gas phase and water solution.

Complexes of palladium (II) with alizarin and Alizarine Red S

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1981
1. Complexes of Pd(II) with alizarin and Alizarine Red S of 1∶2 composition were synthesized and characterized. 2. The obtained complexes manifested high catalytic activity in the hydrogenation of aromatic nitro compounds, olefins, acetylenes, quinones, and iminoxyl radicals.

Iron Alizarin Blue S Stain for Nuclei

Stain Technology, 1974
Absrract. Recent shortages of hematoxylin have made it desirable to find substitutes for staining of nuclei. Iron alizarin blue S proved practical. Formula: Add 5 mi of a 40% femc chloride solution to 100 ml of a 2% aqueous solution of alizarin blue S; stain sections for 15 minutes. This technic does not require differentiation.

Application of reinecke salt and alizarin S for the determination of promazine

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2001
Reinecke salt and alizarin S have been tested as reagents for the determination of promazine. They react in neutral and acidic media with promazine forming a reddish and brown crystalline compounds. The compounds are sparingly soluble in water but fairly soluble in acetone and methanol. The quantitative extraction of compound of promazine with alizarin

The In Vivo Inhibition of Bone Formation by Alizarin Red S

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1964
Significant inhibition of bone formation in dogs was observed in areas of intense skeletal uptake of alizarin red S. Electron microscopy revealed that the organic matrix in these areas was severely disturbed. The areas which contained no recognizable collagen had the least mineral.

Alizarin red-S complexes of organotin compounds

Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 1965
Abstract The nature and composition of the complexes between alizarin red-S and the organotin compounds RSnX 3 and R 2 SnX 2 (R  CH 3 , C 6 H 5 ; X  Cl − , Br − , ClO 4 − ) have been studied spectrophotometrically in aqueous and in mixed water-ethanol solutions.

Extraction of the zirconium-alizarin S complex with butanol

Talanta, 1964
Abstract Optimum conditions are established for the formation of the zirconium-alizarin S lake. Trichloracetic acid exerts a stabilisation action over the lake in hydrochloric acid solutions, enabling extraction of the lake with butanol over a large range of pH. The butanol lake solutions are stable almost indefinitely.
