Lanthanum-Alizarine Red S chelate

Microchemical Journal, 1965
Summary Formation of a pink-colored chelate between lanthanum and Alizarine Red S has been reported. The region of maximum absorbance of the chelate lies at 520 mµ . The molar ratio of lanthanum to the chelating agent has been determined to be 1:2, using three different methods: the mole ratio method, the slope ratio method, and the method of ...

Microdetermination of alizarine red S

Microchemical Journal, 1968
Abstract Alizarin red S is determined by oxidation with ceric sulfate. Oxidation results in the formation of phthalic acid and formic acid at 14 equivalence. Maximum error observed was + 2.7%.

Alizarin Red S As An Intravital Fluorochrome in Mineralizing Tissues

Stain Technology, 1965
To avoid interference with weight gain following alizarin red S injections, low doses of an order of 25 mg/kg body weight must be used. Two such doses given 4 days apart to 24-day-old rats produced no visible staining of bone or dentine in undecalcified sections examined by ordinary light microscopy.

Staining properties of alizarin red S for growing bone in vitro

Cells Tissues Organs, 1980
The pH-metric titration curve of alizarin red S (ARS) showed that ARS ionizes in three stages: firstly the –SO3Na group, secondly the β-hydroxyl group, and finally on the alkaline side the α-hydroxyl group. The titration of ARS solution with calcium ions indicates that complex and chelate formation between ARS and calcium are ...

Kinetics of the alizarine red S surface redox reaction

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 1996
Kinetics of the surface redox reaction of alizarine red S adsorbed on mercury is measured by square-wave voltammetry. In 1 mol/l KNO(3) buffered to pH 9.22, the standard reaction rate constant of the redox couple anthraquinone/anthrahydroquinone in the adsorbed alizarine red S molecule is k(s)=100 +/-10 s(-1) and the cathodic transfer coefficient is ...

Alizarin Red S as an electrochemical indicator for saccharide recognition

Electrochimica Acta, 2011
Abstract In addition to the well-established spectroscopic Alizarin Red S (ARS) assay for the determination of binding constants between arylboronic acids and different saccharides, we report the use of ARS as a reporter in an electrochemical set-up.

The use of alizarin red S and alizarin complexone for immersion marking Japanese flounder Paralichthys olivaceus (T.)

Fisheries Research, 2009
Abstract Alizarin red S from 200 to 400 mg/l and alizarin complexone from 50 to 300 mg/l were used to mark Japanese flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus . Immersion for 24 h produced detectable marks in sagittae, ctenoid, cycloid scales, fin rays (dorsal, anal, pectoral, caudal and ventral fin rays) and parts of dissected asteriscus after 60 days in ...

[Use of alizarin red S and alizarin complexone for immersion marking Sinocyclocheilus grahami].

Dong wu xue yan jiu = Zoological research, 2014
In the present study, we examined the potential uses of Alizarin complexone and Alizarin red S to mark S. grahami larvae and juveniles. Individuals of different ages (6 days, 20 days, 90 days) were immersed in four concentrations of a solution of each chemical (50, 100, 150 and 200 mg/L) for different periods of time (4-36 h).

Effect of Alizarin Red S on the formation of hydroxyapatite crystals

Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 2008
Hydroxyapatite samples were prepared in systems calcium nitrate-diammonium hydrogen phosphate-ammonium hydroxide-organic component with addition of microamounts of Alizarin Red S. The participation of sulfo and hydroxy groups of the organic compounds in the formation of hydroxyapatite crystals was confirmed by X-ray phase analysis, IR spectroscopy ...

Spectroscopic Determination of Cysteine with Alizarin Red S and Copper

Spectroscopy Letters, 2008
ABSTRACT The interaction between metal complex Cu2+–ARS (Alizarin Red S) and l-cysteine was investigated via fluorescence and absorption spectroscopies. In pH 5.2 Britton–Robinson buffer, the addition of L-cysteine into Cu2+–ARS system resulted in a fluorescence enhancement because cysteine reduced Cu2+ to Cu+, which led to Cu2+–ARS decompound, and ARS
