Geopolymer Cement Based on Alkali Activated Slag [PDF]
The aim of this investigation is to prepare geopolymer cement by mixing various amounts of granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) with Fly ash (FA) and cement kiln dust (CKD). Seven blends are prepared using 100 % slag , 95% slag+5% CKD or fly ash , 90% slag + 10% CKD or Fly ash and 85% slag + 15% CKD or Fly ash .

Biomass‐Derived Carbon Photocatalysts for Organic Pollutant Degradation: Strategies and Perspectives
Recent advances in biomass‐derived carbon photocatalysts are highlighted, focusing on synthesis, surface engineering, and mechanisms such as ROS generation and band‐gap tuning. Heteroatom doping, heterojunctions, and hybrid architectures boost visible‐light activity, while scalability and stability challenges are addressed for practical environmental ...

CARBONATION RESISTANCE OF SLAG MORTARS ACTIVATED BY DIFFERENT ALKALI ACTIVATORS
In this study, the carbonation depths of slag mortars activated by sodium silicate (water glass), sodium hydroxide and sodium carbonate were investigated and the results were compared to those of control mortar with CEM I 42.5 R normal Portland cement. In the mixture, the sand/binder ratio was 2.75 and the water/binder ratio was 0.50. Na concentrations

Phase diagrams for alkali-activated slag binders [PDF]
Phase diagrams for alkali-activated slag (AAS) binders are simulated at (metastable) thermodynamic equilibrium, spanning the relevant compositional envelopes for these materials. The phase diagrams are generally consistent with experimental observations in the literature, dominated by calcium (alkali) aluminosilicate hydrate (C-(N-)A-S-H) gels and Mg ...

Stabilisation of Sulfide‐Bearing Clays as a New Building Ground
ABSTRACT Fine‐grained, sulfide‐bearing marine clays are found along the Finnish coastline. When excavated and exposed to air, the sulfides within these soils react with oxygen to form sulfuric acid. Such soils are classified as hypersulfidic soils.

Environmentally Friendly Pervious Concrete for Treating Deicer-Laden Stormwater: Phase II [PDF]
In Phase I of this project, graphene oxide (GO)-modified pervious concrete was developed using coal fly ash as the sole binder. The primary objectives of Phase II of this project were (1) to evaluate the stormwater infiltration capacity of GO-modified ...

Alkali-activated binders: a review: part 2. About materials and binders manufacture [PDF]
This paper summarizes current knowledge about alkali-activated binders, by reviewing previously published work. As it is shown in Part 1, alkali-activated binders have emerged as an alternative to (ordinary Portland cement) OPC binders, which seem to ...

Alkali activated slag based on steelmaking slag: application and properties [PDF]
Alkali activated slag (AAS) is an environmentally friendly material which were extensively investigated in a pass two decade. Currently, these materials are considering as an effective alternative for cement binder. Process of slag alkali activation involves a chemical reaction between solid calcium aluminosilicate materials and a highly alkaline ...

Abstract The redox potential of the pore solution of hardened cements containing ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) affects reinforcement corrosion and immobilization of radioactive waste. Here, Mn K‐edge X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy was applied to determine the depth profile of the oxidation state of manganese in
