Urinary Alkaline Phosphatase Activity

JAMA, 1963
THE RECOGNITION and removal of an inhibitor(s) of lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) activity of human urine resulted in the development of a method useful for the detection and diagnosis of carcinomas of the kidney and bladder.1,2These discoveries suggested that other enzymes previously thought to be absent or inconsistently present in urine might similarly ...

Serum alkaline phosphatase activity in cattle

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1971
Abstract Some biochemical properties of isoenzymes of alkaline phosphatase were examined in extracts of bovine tissues. The value of isoenzyme analysis of alkaline phosphatase activity in bovine serum as a diagnostic aid was studied. Three techniques were compared for routine determination of alkaline phosphatase activity in bovine serum.

Plasma “alkaline” phosphatase activity

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1950
Summary Plasma alkaline phosphatase is high in infancy, then drops by the second year of life to a plateau which lasts until pubescence. At 9 years of age in girls and 11 years of age in boys a rapid drop occurs, until by the seventeenth year of life adult values are found.

Phosphoprotein-phosphatase activity associated with human placental alkaline phosphatase

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1976
Abstract Human placental alkaline phosphatase, a marker protein for some nontrophoblastic neoplasms, was found to have phosphoprotein phosphatase activity. This was demonstrated by the dephosphorylation of 32P-labeled histones, protamine, glycogen synthetase, casein, and phosvitin at various pH values.

Phosphotyrosine and phosphoprotein phosphatase activity of alkaline phosphatase in mineralizing cartilage

Metabolism, 1985
We used embryonic skeletal cartilage known to have high levels of alkaline phosphatase activity to determine whether growing cartilage has phosphotyrosine phosphatase activity and phosphotyrosinyl histone phosphatase activity at physiologic pH.

Leukocyte alkaline phosphatase in pregnancy. Comparison with placental phosphatase activity

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1970
Abstract The properties of placental and leukocyte alkaline phosphatase (LAP) were investigated in pregnant and nonpregnant women, by comparing their activity towards p -nitrophenyl phosphate, β-glycerophosphate, thermostability, effect of l -phenylalanine, and, electrophoretic resolution on acrylamide gel.

Measurement of Alkaline Phosphatase Activity

1979
This chapter will discuss some practical aspects of alkaline phosphatase assays. While the remarks are based predominantly on experience gained with human blood serum, many of the points raised are also applicable to the assay of alkaline phosphatases from other sources.

Alkaline Phosphatase Activity in a Strain of Bacterionema Matruchotii

Journal of Dental Research, 1979
Protein from the soluble fraction of Bacterium matruchotii cells propagated in a medium containing no added inorganic phosphate was fractionated by gel permeation chromatography. The bulk of phosphatase activity assayed at pH 8.0 was found in fractions equivalent to a molecular weight of 6 × 105 daltons.

The phosphorus fractions and alkaline phosphatase activities in sludge

Bioresource Technology, 2011
The alkaline phosphatase activities (APA) and phosphorus fractions in activated sludge during wastewater treatment were studied. Our results showed that the phosphorus concentration and fractions in activated sludge were highly correlated with the characteristics of influents.

Alkaline phosphatase activity and isoenzymes in experimental fractures

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1971
Abstract Serum alkaline phosphatase activity and isoenzymes were studied after experimental fractures of the rat tibia. The enzyme activity was measured as the light absorption of p-nitrophenol, produced after hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl phosphate.
