Compositional variances in petal cuticular wax of eight rose species and their impacts on vase life under water-loss stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Cuticular wax is the first barrier between plants and the environment. Here, the densities of cuticular wax crystals on the petals of eight rose cultivars were determined to be sparse; the crystals were mostly granular and only a few rod-shaped crystals ...

Saturated-liquid heat capacity calculation of alkanes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2005
An empirical model for the calculation of the heat capacity of alkanes is recommended. This model was tested and compared to known models (Luria–Benson and Rizicka–Domalski) using 68 sets with 1155 literature experimental heat capacity data of 39 ...

Bioremediation of Oil-Contaminated Soil of the Republic of Kazakhstan Using a New Biopreparation

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2023
A new biopreparation is developed to clean soils from oil pollution in the arid climate of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The biopreparation includes bacterial strains R. qingshengii F2-1, R. qingshengii F2-2, and P. alloputida BS3701.

Predictions of homogeneous nucleation rates for $n$-alkanes accounting for the diffuse phase interface and capillary waves

open access: yes, 2017
Homogeneous droplet nucleation has been studied for almost a century but has not yet been fully understood. In this work, we used the density gradient theory (DGT) and considered the influence of capillary waves (CW) on the predicted size-dependent ...

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Metabolic engineering of Yarrowia lipolytica for enhanced microbial production of medium-chain α, ω-diols from alkanes via CRISPR-Cas9 mediated pathway optimization and P450 alkane monooxygenase overexpression

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
IntroductionMedium- to long-chain α, ω-diols are valuable building blocks for polyesters and polyurethanes, yet their microbial synthesis from inexpensive alkane feedstocks remains largely undeveloped.

The potential use of n-alkanes, long-chain alcohols and long-chain fatty acids as diet composition markers: indoor validation with sheep and herbage species from the rangeland of Inner Mongolia of China

open access: yesAnimal, 2012
To investigate the potential use of n-alkanes (alkanes), long-chain alcohols (alcohols) and long-chain fatty acids (acids) for estimating the diet composition of sheep, in a feeding trial.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Effects of mixing on evolution of hydrocarbon ratios in the troposphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Nonmethane hydrocarbon (NMHC) concentration ratios provide useful indicators of tropospheric oxidation and transport processes. However, the influences of both photochemical and mixing processes are inextricably linked in the evolution of these ratios ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...
