Genetic Dissection and Functional Differentiation of ALKa and ALKb, Two Natural Alleles of the ALK/SSIIa Gene, Responding to Low Gelatinization Temperature in Rice

open access: yesRice, 2020
ALK is the key gene controlling rice gelatinization temperature (GT), which is closely associated with the eating and cooking quality (ECQ) in rice (Oryza sativa L.).

m6A‐Mediated TMCO3 Promotes Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression by Facilitating the Membrane Translocation and Activation of AKT

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 27, July 17, 2025.
TMCO3 as a downstream target of ALKBH5 is found, which regulates its expression in an m6A‐dependent manner, and then a new phosphorylation site on TMCO3 is identified and determines the specific mechanism of TMCO3 with AKT. Moreover, the combined treatment of targeting the TMCO3 and inhibition of AKT in mice models with HCC achieves great results ...

Structural determinants of nucleobase modification recognition in the AlkB family of dioxygenases

open access: yesDNA Repair, 2020
Iron-dependent dioxygenases of the AlkB protein family found in most organisms throughout the tree of life play a major role in oxidative dealkylation processes. Many of these enzymes have attracted the attention of researchers across different fields and have been subjected to thorough biochemical characterization because of their link to human health

Recent Acquisition of Functional m6A RNA Demethylase Domain in Orchid Ty3/Gypsy Elements

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Long terminal repeats (LTR) retrotransposons are transposable elements (TEs) representing major components of most plant genomes. The fixation of additional conserved protein domains in their genomes is considered a rare event in the course of their ...

The interaction between ALKBH2 DNA repair enzyme and PCNA is direct, mediated by the hydrophobic pocket of PCNA and perturbed in naturally-occurring ALKBH2 variants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Human AlkB homolog 2 (ALKBH2) is a DNA repair enzyme that catalyzes the direct reversal of DNA methylation damage through oxidative demethylation. While ALKBH2 colocalizes with proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in DNA replication foci, it remains

MdDSK2a‐Like‐MdMTA Module Functions in Apple Cold Response via Regulating ROS Detoxification and Cell Wall Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 26, July 10, 2025.
Under cold stress, MdDSK2a‐like is degraded via the 26S proteasome pathway, thereby alleviating the degradation of MdMTA induced by the 26S proteasome and autophagy pathways mediated by MdDSK2a‐like. The accumulated MdMTA increases the m6A levels of cold‐responsive genes, thereby contributing to increased ROS detoxification, deposition of cell wall, as

Grapevine leafroll-associated virus 3. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Grapevine leafroll disease (GLD) is one of the most important grapevine viral diseases affecting grapevines worldwide. The impact on vine health, crop yield, and quality is difficult to assess due to a high number of variables, but significant economic ...

Protective role of Angiogenin in muscle regeneration in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: Diagnostic and therapeutic implications

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 35, Issue 4, July 2025.
Elevated angiogenin levels in skeletal muscle are linked to slower disease progression, enhanced regeneration, and vascularization through satellite‐endothelial interaction during myogenesis in ALS. Angiogenin and its tiRNAs may serve as prognostic markers and therapeutic targets for ALS.

Genome of Alcanivorax sp. 24 : a hydrocarbon degrading bacterium isolated from marine plastic debris [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Alcanivorax is an important member of the hydrocarbonoclastic group known for using alkanes and other related compound as their preferred carbon source. Here we report the genomic characteristics of Alcanivorax sp. 24 isolated from plastic marine debris.

tRF‐3a‐Pro: A Transfer RNA‐Derived Small RNA as a Novel Biomarker for Diagnosis of Hepatitis B Virus‐Related Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 58, Issue 7, July 2025.
tRF‐3a is the main tsRNA subtype up‐regulated in HBV‐related HCC. tRF‐3a‐Pro is significantly up‐regulated in HBV‐related HCC tumour than that in paratumour tissues. The level of tRF‐3a‐Pro in serum is a promising candidate biomarker for HCC diagnosis. tRF‐3a‐Pro promotes cell proliferation and regulates cell cycle of HCC.
