Catalytic alkylation of benzene with alkenes in the vapor phase I. the alkylation of benzene with propylene

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1958
1. Alumina-supported zinc chloride catalyzes the alkylation of benzene with propylene. 2. Conditions were established for obtaining a 50% a yield of pure isopropylbenzene, calculated on the propylene, introduced into reaction, and 75% on the reacted propylene.

Biodegradation of Tetrapropylene Alkyl Benzene Sulphonate

Zentralblatt für Bakteriologie, Parasitenkunde, Infektionskrankheiten und Hygiene. Zweite Naturwissenschaftliche Abteilung: Allgemeine, Landwirtschaftliche und Technische Mikrobiologie, 1976
Summary The degradation of ABS by pure cultures of bacteria was studied in shaking flasks. It was observed that alkyl benzene sulphonate (ABS) was not degraded when it was used as a sole source of carbon; however, degradation was observed in presence of yeast extract or glucose in the medium.

CYCLIALKYLATIONS OF ALKYL BENZENES WITH OLEFINS AND ALKYL HALIDES

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1960
A revised mechanism is given for the formation of octamethyloctahydroanthracene from 1,3,5-tri-t-butylbenzene and t-butyl chloride. 1,3,5-Tri-t-butylbenzene reacts with isopropyl chloride to yield an octamethylhydrindacene which also forms when 1,3,5-triisopropylbenzene is cyclialkylated with isobutene. 1,3,5-Triisopropylbenzene is cyclialkylated with

Selective Alkylation of Benzene with Propane over Bifunctional Pt-Heteropoly Acid Catalyst

open access: yesACS Catalysis, 2015
The alkylation of benzene with propane to yield isopropylbenzene proceeds with high selectivity over bifunctional metal-acid catalysts comprising Pt and Keggin heteropoly acid in a fixed-bed reactor at 250-350 °C and 1 bar pressure.

Catalytic Oxidation of Alkyl Benzene

Advanced Materials Research, 2015
Oxidation of benzylic C-H bonds of alkyl benzene for the synthesis of corresponding carbonyl compounds is a very important reaction for both commercial manufacturing and basic research. This paper reviews various kinds of catalysts involved in the oxidation of alkyl aromatic and their activity in various conditions and probable mechanism of action ...

The ultraviolet spectrum of alkyl benzenes

Tetrahedron, 1964
Abstract By means of the theory of the migration moment of the substituents the absorption of the secondary band (1A1g → 1B2u transition) of sixty-seven alkyl benzenes has been studied. The hyperconjugation effects of the carbon-hydrogen and carbon-carbon bonds as well as those of the vibrational and static symmetry perturbations of the benzene ...

Destructive alkylation of benzene with pentane

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1955
1. The destructive alkylation of benzene with pentane over an aluminosilicate catalyst under autoclave conditions have effected for the first time. 2. The effects of the duration of reaction, temperature, and amount of catalysts on the yield of reaction products were investigated. 3.

Vapor-phase catalytic alkylation of benzene with alkenes Communication 3. Alkylation of benzene with 1-pentene

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1959
1. It was found that, in the alkylation of benzene with 1-pentene at 350° under a pressure of 40 atm in presence of zinc chloride supported on alumina,(1, 1-dimethylpropyl)benzene was formed instead of the expected (1-methylbutyl)- and pentyl-benzenes. 2.

Detection of Benzene and Alkylated Benzene Derivatives in Fuel Contaminated Environments

CLEAN – Soil, Air, Water, 2016
Reported herein is the sensitive and selective detection of benzene and alkylated benzene derivatives as well as the practical application of this system in the detection of fuel contaminated environments following a March 2015 tanker truck crash at the Bourne Rotary in Bourne, Massachusetts.

Environmental Monitoring of Benzene and Alkylated Benzene from Vehicular Emissions

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 1997
The volatile organic pollutants from direct vehicular exhaust were trapped with activated charcoal, desorbed with carbon disulphide and analysed by GC/MS with tert-butyl benzene as an internal standard. A comparative study was made from the exhaust of 1000 cc, 1300 cc, 1600 cc cars, pickup, lorry(diesel), 125 cc and 70 cc motorbikes.
