Bridging the gap: a genetically validated avian chorioallantoic membrane platform for investigation of spontaneous circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established the avian chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay as a scalable in vivo model for studying circulating tumor cells (CTCs). Human gastrointestinal tumors spontaneously released genetically validated CTCs that were detected across multiple platforms, demonstrating that the CAM model provides an accessible tool for investigating early cancer ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Local all-pass filters for optical flow estimation

open access: yes, 2015
The optical flow is a velocity field that describes the motion of pixels within a sequence (or set) of images. Its estimation plays an impor-tant role in areas such as motion compensation, object tracking and image registration. In this paper, we present

All-pass filters based on modern functional blocks

open access: yes, 2009
The present thesis is focused on all pass filters. The principle of all pass filters, their properties, the design of nth degree of these circuits will be analysed in succession and then some of functional blocks, by which these structures can be made ...

One size does not fit all: An in vitro evaluation of the effects of bezafibrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate on human SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.

A Fast way to Design Adaptive Digital High-pass Filters

open access: yes, 2012
[[abstract]]This is an extension research of [1]. In [1], frequency scaling of adaptive digital filter design algorithm is proposed. The pole placement technique is used to achieve the frequency scaling of adaptive digital filter design.

A new class of continuous-time delay- compensated parameter-varying low-pass elliptic filters with improved dynamic behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In some applications, it is required to have continuous- time low-pass analog filtering systems which simultaneously possess a constant group delay in the passband and a narrow transition band.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.
