Real-time assessment of dynamic Allan deviation and dynamic time deviation

2012 European Frequency and Time Forum, 2012
In this paper the methods enabling real-time assessment of dynamic Allan deviation and dynamic time deviation are presented. The idea of real-time analysis of timing signals using dynamic approach is described first. Then the algorithms of real-time computation of dynamic parameters are presented.

Rapid Calculation of Time Deviation and Modified Allan Deviation for Characterizing Telecommunications Clock Stability

International Journal of Computers and Applications, 2008
Time and frequency characterization of precision clocks and oscillators is important in maintaining time and frequency standards. The recent preference has been for the time domain signal characterization of clocks, and several performance measures of clocks and oscillators are defined in ITU-T Recommendation G.810.

Implementation of the real-time assessment of dynamic allan deviation and dynamic time deviation

2014 European Frequency and Time Forum (EFTF), 2014
In the paper the realization of the methods enabling real-time computation of dynamic Allan deviation and dynamic time deviation is described. The idea of real-time analysis of timing signals using dynamic approach is described first. Then the main features of the algorithms enabling the analysis and their implementation are presented and discussed.

Joint real-time computation of Allan deviation, time deviation, and Hadamard deviation

EFTF-2010 24th European Frequency and Time Forum, 2010
The results of the experimental tests have proved the ability of the real-time computation of Hadamard deviation, Allan deviation, and time deviation performed jointly. The computation of the three parameters can be performed jointly simultaneously for numerous series and wide range of observation intervals as well as rather short sampling interval ...

Allan deviation analysis of financial return series

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and Its Applications, 2012
Abstract We perform a scaling analysis for the return series of different financial assets applying the Allan deviation (ADEV), which is used in the time and frequency metrology to characterize quantitatively the stability of frequency standards since it has demonstrated to be a robust quantity to analyze fluctuations of non-stationary time series ...

ThêoH: a hybrid, high-confidence statistic that improves on the Allan deviation

Metrologia, 2006
‘Theo1’ (short terminology for ‘theoretical variance #1’) is derived based on, a variance that separates the Allan variance'saveraging time(τ) from itssampling interval(τs), also called ‘stride’, as applied to normalized fractional-frequencyy(t). The τ-length average ofy(t) is denoted, and every permissible squared difference of-values inis averaged ...

The use of the Allan deviation for the measurement of the noise and drift performance of microwave radiometers

Measurement Science and Technology, 2007
The use of the Allan deviation for the analysis of signal noise and drift components is considered in the context of microwave radiometry. The noise behaviour of two types of microwave radiometer is modelled and compared with measurements of the performance of these radiometers analysed using the Allan deviation method.

Use of Allan Deviation for Characterizing Satellite Microwave Sounder Noise Equivalent Differential Temperature (NEDT)

IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, 2015
Currently, the instrument sensitivity of sensors onboard weather satellites is quantified by computing the standard deviation of the measurements taken from their calibration targets. The standard deviation is valid for describing the spread of a statistical distribution of the measured values around its mean that is stable.

Allan-Deviation Measurements of Gate-Tunable Single Electron Pumps with the Ultrastable Low-Noise Current Amplifier

2018 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements (CPEM 2018), 2018
We characterized KRISS precision measurement system by measuring the Allan deviation of the quantized current generated by GaAsl AIGaAs gate-tunable electron pumps, where the current was amplified by the ultrastable low-nose current amplifier (ULCA) developed by the PTB.

3.3 A 0.51nW 32kHz Crystal Oscillator Achieving 2ppb Allan Deviation Floor Using High-Energy-to-Noise-Ratio Pulse Injection

2020 IEEE International Solid- State Circuits Conference - (ISSCC), 2020
In ultra-low-power crystal oscillators (XOs), the ideal circuit consumes minimum power while disturbing the oscillation as little as possible. In order to achieve sub-nW power consumption, there are three fundamental considerations: the loss in the crystal, the efficiency of energy injection, and the power required to extract oscillation frequency and ...
