The use of the Allan deviation for the measurement of the noise and drift performance of microwave radiometers

The use of the Allan deviation for the analysis of signal noise and drift components is considered in the context of microwave radiometry. The noise behaviour of two types of microwave radiometer is modelled and compared with measurements of the performance of these radiometers analysed using the Allan deviation method.

We report on the design, fabrication and characterization of a novel multiple-shell silicon vibratory microgyroscope. The resonating star gyroscope (RSG) is formed as a merged superposition of two square shells, yielding in-plane flexural modes that are utilized to sense rotation along the normal axis.

Allan deviation characterization of an optical-frequency-division-stabilized, hybrid-packaged microcomb

A dispersive-wave-tunable microcomb is hybrid packaged with a III-V DFB pump laser. The Allan deviation of the repetition rate is characterized when stabilized to a Fabry–Pérot cavity, using optical frequency division.

Use of the allan deviation and linear prediction for the determination of the uncertainty on time calibrations against predicted timescales

In this paper, two linear prediction algorithms and the Allan deviation are used to determine the uncertainty on time calibrations performed against predicted timescales. The proposed algorithms are shown to be close to optimal and have the advantage of bounding the timescale prediction error without requiring a noise model of the timescale process.
