Whispering gallery mode resonator based ultra-narrow linewidth external cavity semiconductor laser

open access: yes, 2010
We demonstrate a miniature self-injection locked DFB laser using resonant optical feedback from a high-Q crystalline whispering gallery mode resonator.

Decoherence benchmarking of superconducting qubits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We benchmark the decoherence of superconducting qubits to examine the temporal stability of energy-relaxation and dephasing. By collecting statistics during measurements spanning multiple days, we find the mean parameters $\overline{T_{1}}$ = 49 $\mu$s ...

Robust and Reversible Thermofluorescence in Solvent‐Free Thermoplastic Polyurethane Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thermofluorescent polymer composites with high‐contrast optical outputs are prepared by solvent‐free blending of indenoquinacridone dye into a thermoplastic polyurethane matrix. The temperature‐dependent fluorescence originates from aggregation–dissociation of the dye molecules, regulated by competing hydrogen bonds from the polymer matrix.

Minimizing the Dick Effect in an Optical Lattice Clock

open access: yes, 2009
We discuss the minimization of the Dick effect in an optical lattice clock. We show that optimizing the time sequence of operation of the clock can lead to a significant reduction of the clock stability degradation by the frequency noise of the ...

Low-frequency Gravitational Wave Detection via Double Optical Clocks in Space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We propose a Doppler tracking system for gravitational wave detection via Double Optical Clocks in Space (DOCS). In this configuration two spacecrafts (each containing an optical clock) are launched to space for Doppler shift observations.

On the relation between uncertainties of weighted frequency averages and the various types of Allan deviations [PDF]

open access: yesMetrologia, 2015
The power spectral density in Fourier frequency domain, and the different variants of the Allan deviation (ADEV) in dependence on the averaging time are well established tools to analyse the fluctuation properties and frequency instability of an oscillatory signal. It is often supposed that the statistical uncertainty of a measured average frequency is

Photoconductivity‐Driven Quantum Efficiency Gain in Inorganic Ruddlesden‐Popper Layered Cs2PbBr2I2 Perovskite Photodetector for Visible Light Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rational halogen mixing strategy was employed to shift the bandgap of Cs2PbBr2I2 from ultraviolet to visible region, enabling first realization of a visible‐light photodetector with this 2D layered Ruddlesden‐Popper perovskite material. Under illumination, light‐induced internal field forms and drives trap‐mediated persistent photoconductivity ...

Analysis of the Long‐Term Stability of TSI Instruments Using Allan Deviation and the Generation of a New TSI Composite

open access: yesEarth and Space Science
The dominant external forcing to Earth's climate system is solar radiation, referred to as the solar spectral irradiance (SSI) and the total solar irradiance (TSI), which is the integral of SSI over all wavelengths.

Investigation of A Slow-Light Enhanced Near-Infrared Absorption Spectroscopic Gas Sensor, Based on Hollow-Core Photonic Band-Gap Fiber

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Generic modeling and analysis of a slow-light enhanced absorption spectroscopic gas sensor was proposed, using a mode-tuned, hollow-core, photonic band-gap fiber (HC-PBF) as an absorption gas cell.

Role of fluctuations and nonlinearities on field emission nanomechanical self-oscillators

open access: yes, 2013
A theoretical and experimental description of the threshold, amplitude, and stability of a self-oscillating nanowire in a field emission configuration is presented.
