Chromosome Preparations from the Avian Allantoic Sac

Stain Technology, 1972
An abundance of mitotic cells, a rapid and uniform response of cells to mitotic inhibition, ease in obtaining a monolayer of cells, clear and well-spread chromosomes make the allantois an ideal tissue for squash preparations. After a 45 min incubation of each embryo, still in the shell, with 0.02 ml of 0.05% Colcemid, 4-day avian embryos were treated ...

Allantoic cyst and persistent urachal-allantoic communication: A rare umbilical anomaly

Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1998
True cysts of the umbilical cord are distinctly rare. A cyst lined by uroepithelium is described in a newborn in whom the cyst communicated freely with a patent urachal system. It is assumed that this most likely represents a remnant cyst of the allantois--an anomaly not described previously.

Allantoate and ureidoglycolate degradation by Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Enzymology, 1967
Abstract 1. 1.|A single enzyme, allantoicase (allantoate amidinohydrolase, EC 3.5.3.4), catalyzes the conversion of allantoate to (−)-ureidoglycolate. On the other hand, two enzymes were found to be responsible for the degradation of ureidoglycolate by Pseudomonas aeruginosa extracts: allantoicase, which degraded (+)-ureidoglycolate by 3–4 times ...

Chorio‐allantoic membrane touch preparations

The Anatomical Record, 1964
AbstractA simple method for separating the ectodermal (chorionic) and entodermal (allantoic) layers of the chorio‐allantoic membrane has been devised. It consists of placing, unfolded, a membrane fragment on a rubber balloon filled with water; air is blown briskly upon the membrane by means of a rubber bulb until its shiny surface becomes dull ...

Yield increases in intact influenza vaccine virus from chicken allantoic fluid through isolation from insoluble allantoic debris

Vaccine, 2007
A yield enhancement technology for use in influenza vaccine manufacturing has been developed to maximize the recovery of influenza virus from allantoic fluid of virus-infected chick embryos; the standard raw material for influenza vaccine. Virus associated with amorphous debris in the allantoic fluid can be dissociated from the debris and recovered ...

Sonographic Prenatal Diagnosis of Allantoic Cyst

Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, 1992
A case of an allantoic cyst of the umbilical cord with urinary tract involvement was detected in a fetus by sonographic examination. The pregnancy was followed to term, and a healthy infant was born. Embryologic development of the umbilical cord, clinical significance, and differential diagnosis of cystic lesions of the cord are discussed.

Purification and Characterization of Allantoate Amidohydrolase fromBacillus fastidiosus

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1995
Allantoate amidohydrolase from Bacillus fastidiosus was purified 170-fold to homogeneity as judged by isoelectric focusing and nondenaturing and sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The molecular mass was estimated to be 128 kDa. The enzyme appeared to be a homodimer with a subunit molecular mass of 66 kDa.

Marsupial with an Allantoic Placenta

Nature, 1896
I HAVE just received from my friend and former pupil Mr. J. P. Hill, Demonstrator of Biology in the Sydney University, an advanced copy of the Abstract of Proceedings of the Linnean Society of New South Wales for November 27, in which he announces the discovery of a true allantoic and highly vascular placenta, of a discoidal and most probably deciduous

Skeletal muscle regeneration induced by chorio-allantoic grafting

Journal of Muscle Research & Cell Motility, 1998
To examine whether the expression pattern of fast-muscle type troponin-T (TnT) isoforms was fixed in cell lineage, breast muscle pieces (pectoralis major) from chick embryos and young and adult chickens were grafted on to chorio-allantoic membrane of 9-day-old chick embryos and cultured until the host embryos hatched out.

Differentiation versus cleavage in chorio-allantoic grafts

Wilhelm Roux' Archiv für Entwicklungsmechanik der Organismen, 1929
A considerable amount of data obtained in the course of a large series of experiments upon the embryo of the fowl has lead to the conclusion that there is a great amount of independence between the processes involved in cell division and those concerned with differentiation in ontogeny.
