Allantois and placenta as developmental sources of hematopoietic stem cells
While the aortic region, the para-aortic splanchnopleura/aorta-gonads-mesonephros (P-Sp/AGM) is currently considered as the source of definitive hematopoietic stem cells during development, the mouse placenta has been found to generate large numbers of these cells and to remain functional in this respect for a longer period than the P-Sp/AGM. The fetal

The junction between the midgut and hindgut co‐localizes with the rectosigmoid junction
At 5 weeks of development, the midgut has formed its primary loop (left). It is well established that the midgut is bounded cranially by the caudal end of the ventral mesentery and the presence of the common bile duct, but its caudal boundary remains to be established.

The Dose-Response Relationship Between Influenza Viruses and the Surviving Allantois [PDF]
It is shown that bits of allantois-on-shell cut from any one egg do not differ either in susceptibility to infection by influenza viruses or in yield of haemagglutinin. For this reason the dose-response curve within any egg is Poissonian.Bits cut from different eggs vary both in susceptibility and in haemagglutinin yield.

Electrolyte and Water Balance of the Early Avian Embryo: Effects of Egg Turning [PDF]
Formation of sub-embryonic fluid (SEF) is a key aspect of the physiology of the early avian embryo. Here we review the process of SEF formation and the factors which influence its composition and the rate of SEF production and depletion in the Japanese ...

At the eighth week of human embryonic development, 3D transparent imaging enables clear visualization of the outflow tract's morphological features, revealing its anatomical components in detail. Abstract The ductus arteriosus (DA) is a critical fetal vascular structure that shunts blood from the pulmonary artery to the aorta, bypassing the non ...

Snail blocks the cell cycle and confers resistance to cell death [PDF]
The Snail zinc-finger transcription factors trigger epithelial-mesenchymal transitions (EMTs), endowing epithelial cells with migratory and invasive properties during both embryonic development and tumor progression.

A comprehensive embryonic staging series of the turtle Trachemys scripta
Abstract Background Turtles hold a unique place in vertebrate evolutionary history, making them critical assets in embryology research. Yet, they remain understudied as potential model organisms in the field. Here, to support experimental manipulations with turtle embryos, we have created a complete normal table of development for comprehensive ...

Experimental Models to Study Skin Wound Healing with a Focus on Angiogenesis
A large number of models are now available for the investigation of skin wound healing. These can be used to study the processes that take place in a phase-specific manner under both physiological and pathological conditions.
