Luk (Allium cepa L.) je jedna od najznačajnijih povrtnih kultura. U Hrvatskoj je po zastupljenosti u proizvodnji na drugom mjestu, odmah iza kupusa. Osim prehrambenih vrijednosti i agroekoloških uvjeta proizvodnje crvenog luka vrlo je značajna i tehnologija skladištenja luka.
