Reduced Descending Itch Inhibition in Peripheral Neuropathy Patients With Chronic Pruritus

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Peripheral neuropathies (PNP) cause a wide range of symptoms of which pruritus and pain are a major burden to patients. Clarifying their mechanisms will facilitate the adequate symptom management. In contrast to neuropathic pain, neuropathic pruritus has long been understudied.

Response to High‐Dose Topical Capsaicin in Neuropathic Pain: Absence of Deep Pain as a Predictor of Analgesic Effect

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Topical high‐dose capsaicin treatment is a recommended therapy for localised neuropathic pain with good tolerability and no identified drug interactions. However, it is not effective for every patient. So far, few parameters in patient history have been identified as predictors for response to capsaicin treatment.

Application of the augmented competing stimulus assessment to identify and establish competing self‐restraint items

open access: yesJournal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Volume 59, Issue 1, Winter 2026.
Abstract Automatically maintained self‐injurious behavior (SIB) sometimes co‐occurs with self‐restraint, a self‐limiting behavior that impedes SIB and can be maladaptive (e.g., hinders functional skills and movement). The presence of self‐restraint suggests SIB produces aversive consequences, which self‐restraint limits.

Role of Gynecologic Findings in Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome: A Consensus

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, Volume 45, Issue 1, Page 39-45, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the role of gynecologic findings in Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome (IC/BPS) by reviewing current international guidelines and identifying relevant gynecologic co‐morbidities. Methods This consensus statement was developed through a systematic four‐phase process: (1) comprehensive literature review across ...
