Finite Element Modeling of Microstructural Changes in Turning of AA7075-T651 Alloy and Validation [PDF]
The surface characteristics of a machined product strongly influence its functional performance. During machining, the grain size of the surface is frequently modified, thus the properties of the machined surface are different to that of the original ...

Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

Al 67, Cu 33 (wt%), eutectic alloy
This alloy is of the eutectic composition and has solidified with a lamellae eutectic structure. The Al and θ phases form co-operatively. The eutectic lamellae grows in the principal direction of heat flow; the lamellae structure is stabilised by the ...

Electrochemical plating of Sn – Ag alloy applicable as a solder
The additions of hydroquinone, 1,4-butandiol and citrate ions to the known strongly acidic sulfate-thiourea solution for electrochemical deposition of Sn – Ag low-melting alloy are proposed, which provide to obtain the alloys of composition near to the ...

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Roll-bonded aluminium alloy diffusion couple annealed for 30 minutes at 600°C.
This micrograph shows the grain structure of a roll-bonded aluminium alloy diffusion couple annealed for 30 minutes at 600°C. The upper half of the couple is Al-0.5Fe-1.0Mn (wt.%), the lower half is Al-1.0Si (wt.%).

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.
